Bittersweet Garden Club

We host garden tours to fund scholarships, teacher grants, garden therapy, and more. Bittersweet members are gardening enthusiasts.

We love the planning of our gardens at least as much as the ex*****on of our plans. We love talking about our gardens with anyone who we can engage in a conversation. We especially love seeing others' gardens and asking about their exper

iences, successes and failures. Probably nothing tops a visit to a new garden center...you just can't leave without at least one new plant! There is always room for another new addition to the garden. We welcome any like-minded individuals to join us. We conduct monthly meetings, held on the third Thursday evening of each month. Meetings include refreshments and social time, a gardening-related program, and a business meeting. We also have a wide variety of optional activities and field trips scheduled all throughout the year...something for everyone!

🌸 A big thank-you to Sherry Fitzpatrick and Ann Lane for spending time in the Memorial Park garden this week! Their hands-on work is a big part of why the garden looks so beautiful.

Sherry and Ann also co-chair our Civic Beautification Committee, coordinating spring and fall cleanup and plantings as well as the weekly garden maintenance that keeps everything thriving. We're grateful for their dedication and green thumbs! 🌷

🦋 Whimsical Wings at Westbrook Terrace! 🐞

On July 28, our Bittersweet Garden Club Garden Therapy team spent a delightful afternoon with residents at Westbrook Terrace.

Participants colored their own whimsical butterfly and dragonfly masks, shared plenty of smiles and laughter, and enjoyed playful insect-inspired snacks. Don’t worry—they only looked buggy!

It was a relaxing afternoon filled with creativity, fun, and wonderful fellowship. Thank you to our Garden Therapy volunteers for making this special activity possible!

We held our 2026 Bittersweet Garden Stroll on Saturday, July 11.

The tour featured the beautiful gardens of Patty Banks, Jenelle Schwieterman, Brenda Jones, Barb Miltenberger, and Sue and Grace Tipton. Each garden had its own unique character and offered something special for us to enjoy.

We had a great turnout, and the weather could not have been better. The tour concluded at the home of Sue and Grace Tipton, where members enjoyed refreshments and music by Mike Michelson.

Thank you to all of our gracious hosts for opening their gardens and making the day so memorable! Thanks also to Sue and Grace Tipton for hosting the refreshments and to the Garden Stroll Committee members for providing all the food and beverages.
