The final day of the 2026 MNEA Summer Leadership Conference at Lincoln University in Jefferson City was another busy and productive day for MNEA-R!
The MNEA-R Leadership Team started the morning early, staffing the MNEA-R Membership Table as conference attendees arrived for breakfast. Throughout the morning, MNEA-R leaders connected with members, answered questions, and shared information about the many opportunities available through MNEA-R.
MNEA-R Treasurer Kassie Payne and Budget Chair Brent Fullington attended a role-alike session with MNEA Chief Financial Officer Karen Struemph, where they shared MNEA-R resources with participants from across the state.
MNEA-R President Treena Murray and Vice President Linda Innes participated in the Presidents' Role-Alike Session led by MNEA President Rebeka McIntosh, discussing leadership strategies and priorities for the coming year.
Meanwhile, MNEA-R Board Member Beth Ann Roland and Secretary Kate Kraybill welcomed visitors to the membership table, answered questions, and gathered contact information from active members interested in learning more about MNEA-R.
The MNEA-R team distributed packets containing Pre-Retired Membership flyers and CHEER information for 60 local presidents to share at their back-to-school events.
During the closing session, MNEA President Rebeka McIntosh and MNEA Executive Director Dr. Patrick Layden delivered inspiring remarks on the "State of Our Union," highlighting the challenges and opportunities facing public education and our Union.
To wrap up a successful conference, MNEA-R drew raffle tickets and awarded gift cards to several pre-retired attendees.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the MNEA-R table. The 2026 MNEA Summer Leadership Conference a tremendous success. We look forward to continuing to grow and strengthen MNEA-R across Missouri!

The 2026 MNEA Summer Leadership Conference was in full swing today at Lincoln University! MNEA staff and governance leaders hosted a variety of informative and engaging sessions for the many local associations and members in attendance.
Following a productive day of learning, networking, and leadership development, MNEA welcomed attendees to MNEA Headquarters for a fun-filled picnic featuring great food, music, games, and fellowship.
MNEA-R members participated in conference sessions and shared information about MNEA Pre-Retired Membership with attendees from across the state. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with members, promote involvement, and celebrate the strength of our Union.
A great day of learning, leadership, and camaraderie was enjoyed by all!

☀️ MNEA Summer Leadership 2026 is officially underway!

☀️MNEA President Rebeka McIntosh and MNEA Executive Director Dr. Patrick Layden kicked off the weekend at Lincoln University in Jefferson City! They welcomed leaders from over 60 MNEA Locals with important event logistics and an exciting weekend overview.

The event started with registration, local food trucks, and refreshing lemonade! It was the perfect way to fuel up and connect before diving into the schedule.

Dr. Layden introduced special guests, including MNEA Immediate Past President and MNEA Foundations Chair Phil Murray, along with our dedicated MNEA staff.

A huge congratulations to the Missouri ESP of the Year, Paulette Luckett (NEA-STL)! Paulette was celebrated by attendees, shared inspiring remarks, and gave a special shout-out to Ferguson-Florissant and the Special School District.

*Crafting Cheer Flyers for the 60 locals to use at their upcoming Back-to-School tables!

The MNEA-R Leadership Team has arrived in Jefferson City and is ready for a productive weekend of learning, planning, and leadership development!
Pictured are Linda Innes, Vice President; Beth Ann Roland, MNEA-R Board of Directors; Kassie Payne, Treasurer; Brent Fullington, Budget Chair; and Kate Kraybill, Secretary.
Tomorrow, the team will meet at MNEA Headquarters to complete important MNEA-R budget planning for the 2026–27 year. Then, Friday evening through Sunday, they will join leaders from across Missouri at the MNEA Summer Leadership Conference.
This three-day event provides valuable opportunities to strengthen leadership skills, learn effective member advocacy strategies, grow local associations, and collaborate with MNEA staff and fellow leaders to plan for a successful year ahead.
We look forward to bringing new ideas, resources, and energy back to MNEA-R!
