June is Children’s Awareness Month, dedicated to the next generation of leaders who will shape our future. The name June comes from the Latin word ‘Ju-ven-is,’ meaning ‘youth,’ highlighting the importance of celebrating children this month.

MBHC’s Youth Behavioral Health Liaison (YBHL) program places liaisons in community behavioral health organizations across Missouri to strengthen partnerships with schools, law enforcement, and other youth-serving agencies. These connections improve outcomes for children and families with behavioral health needs. In the 2025 fiscal year, YBHLs served 6,600 individuals.

Advocating for Missouri’s behavioral health system at Hill Day was a powerful experience. We were joined by 18 constituents representing 11 provider agencies, all united in advancing mental health across our state.
This advocacy work makes a real difference—strengthening community connection and purpose while supporting efforts to expand funding, grow the peer support workforce, and improve crisis response infrastructure. Our team met with members of Missouri’s congressional delegation and Senator Schmitt. We had the opportunity to visit the Department of Justice and the statue of President Truman at the Capitol.
Thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and voices to advocating for Missourians!
