David Buckner has been volunteering at the Missouri State Fair for an incredible 41 years!

Yesterday at the Missouri State Fair, MCAN had the opportunity to attend the Governor’s Ham Breakfast, an annual tradition that brings together state leaders, legislators, community members, and others during the Fair.

Following the breakfast, we hosted a small open house and invited legislators and candidates to stop by, learn more about Community Action, and hear about the important work being done in communities across Missouri.

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to attend, connect with us, and learn more about the impact of Community Action. We appreciate the opportunity to share the work of our network and the communities we serve!

Today was our first day at the state fair, and we were excited to welcome some visitors to our booth! We had the opportunity to visit with Representative Rebecca Kroll, who stopped by to say hello and learn more about the work of Community Action. She is pictured with CAPS Business Development Coordinator, Carol Montie.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming Junior State Fair Queen Aaralynn Willard to our booth! Thanks for stopping by and spending some time with us!

Great things happen when we bring passionate experts together!

We're thrilled to share that Cheri Wood, FDCH, CACFP, & Subsidy Coordinator with Community Action Partnership of Northeast Missouri, was invited by Influential Women to write an article after they discovered her through our 2026 Annual Conference.

During conference, Richard from the Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City stopped by to share the most impactful session he attended.

His top pick was Nutritional Needs & the Impact on a Healthier Learning Environment, presented by Cheri Wood. The session focused on how nutrition affects brain development, behavior, and overall health, along with practical ways to support healthier learning environments.
