We had a great time connecting with others and learning about the Missouri Council on Aging's upcoming project to create and empower advocates for older adults. A great room filled with strong leaders and we're thankful for the invite!

We hope to share more about this exciting project soon!

Benefits trafficking is an underrecognized and rapidly growing form of exploitation impacting older adults and adults with disabilities. This WEADD webinar exposes how traffickers exploit public benefits systems—such as SSI, SSDI, SNAP, and VA benefits—by controlling victims’ finances and housing them in unlicensed, unsafe environments often referred to as unlicensed personal care homes. Through real-world case examples, including multi-agency investigations, we will explore how benefits trafficking operates, why it is frequently misunderstood, and how it intersects with human trafficking frameworks. The WEADD webinar will also highlight the critical role of state coalitions in identifying systemic gaps, fostering cross-sector partnerships, and driving coordinated responses. You will gain practical strategies to recognize warning signs, challenge common misconceptions, and mobilize partners to address this complex form of exploitation.
