MRHA is proud to highlight the upcoming FARM Food Futures Forum: From Rural Health to Food Security, hosted by the WashU Bursky School of Public Health and the Food and Agriculture Research Mission.

The two-day forum will bring together perspectives from rural health, agriculture, food systems, research, policy, and other sectors to explore the connections between community health and food security.

MRHA Executive Director Heidi Lucas will participate as a panelist during the opening session, “Rural Health and Food Security: Challenges and Opportunities.”

New infectious disease education resources are now available through the University of Washington Infectious Diseases Education & Assessment (IDEA) Program.

New and updated resources include:

• The National STD Curriculum’s new Syphilis Tools mobile/web app, with CDC-based recommendations, an RPR/VDRL titer tool, county-level syphilis rates, and syphilis staging resources
• The 4th Edition of the National HIV Curriculum, offering expanded no-cost continuing education opportunities
• New HIV podcasts, mini-lectures, and clinical resources
• New HIV PrEP resources focused on HIV prevention among women
• Updated Hepatitis C Online and Hepatitis B Online lessons, mini-lectures, and clinical challenges

These resources are available at no cost and provide healthcare professionals with additional clinical education and tools related to HIV, STIs, and viral hepatitis.

Thank you to everyone who joined MRHA and MARHC for the 2026 Missouri Rural Health Conference. This year’s turnout, participation, and engagement made for a wonderful two days of learning, connection, and meaningful dialogue around the future of rural healthcare in Missouri.

The conference concluded with the Rural Health Excellence Award Luncheon, hosted by the Missouri Office of Rural Health and Primary Care, featuring an update on Missouri’s Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). Joe Miller, Director of the Rural Health Transformation Office through the Missouri Department of Social Services, and Justin Clutter, Program Manager for the ToRCH Care program, shared updates on the program and discussed Horizon Three funding, including expanded opportunities for organizations to seek support through the next phase of the program, which is expected to be announced in 2027.

We are grateful to all of our attendees, presenters, exhibitors, sponsors, and partners who helped make this year’s conference such a success and contributed to the conversations throughout the event.

As we look ahead, we are excited to announce that next year’s conference will be held October 5–6, 2027. We look forward to continuing these conversations and building on the connections made as we work together to strengthen rural healthcare across Missouri.

RHTP Update: Missouri is investing up to $4.2 million in the first year to strengthen the state’s rural EMS workforce through the Rural Health Transformation Program.

In partnership with MEMSA, the initiative will expand EMT and paramedic training opportunities and provide funding to rural EMS organizations that hire newly certified graduates or support current employees pursuing higher-level certifications.
