Last week was emotionally draining for most of us. Polarized politics heavily influenced a decision about the fitness of a candidate for the Supreme Court. By Friday morning we were about to observe the exercise of raw power to push to a decision when two people courageously decided to deviate from the focus on blaming people to a focus on the problem. That is one of the extraordinary characteristics of mediation: the ability to pull back from attack and ultimatum to looking at the problem and other options. Please comment on this post to share how you felt as a mediator when you saw this happen in our experience.
