As one chapter is celebrated, another begins. New leadership always brings opportunities for growth and connection.

Please join us in welcoming President Patrick Nakashima-Moran, DO, as he begins his year in this role after officially obtaining the title at the Missouri Osteopathic Annual Conference.

During the event, Patrick Nakashima-Moran, DO, was presented with resolutions from both the Missouri House and Senate in recognition of his upcoming term as President, an honor that reflects his dedication to Missouri’s osteopathic community and the future of healthcare across the state.

When asked about what he sees as a value of MAOPS, he shared, “MAOPS isn’t always going to be the organization that just does things for you, but that’s not really the osteopathic way in the first place. MAOPS can bring whatever you want it to bring.”

We’re excited to see how his leadership helps continue fostering connection, support and progress throughout the MAOPS community in the year ahead.

Strong communities grow even stronger when they’re shaped by leaders who care with purpose, invest in others and work to move healthcare forward with a shared mission.

At the Missouri Osteopathic Annual Conference in Camdenton, we had the privilege of celebrating Katie Davenport-Kabonic, DO’s time as President of the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons.

Throughout her leadership, Katie Davenport-Kabonic, DO, helped foster a sense of connection, support and community that continues to make MAOPS such a meaningful organization to so many across Missouri.

One of the conference’s most heartfelt moments was the presentation of a handmade gavel created by Trustee Ken Zaremski, DO, and presented by incoming President Patrick Nakashima-Moran, DO, a meaningful reflection of the care and dedication that defined her presidency.

Though her time in her presidential role has come to an end, her focus on advocacy will not. It’s remained a strong focus both throughout this time and her work as a provider. “I’ve personally seen a lot of mistrust in physicians from the public and patients, and as a physician, I’m just trying to help in any way I can,” she shared. “Advocacy brings to light what may be influencing public perception or influencing my ability to practice in a way that feels ethical and patient centered.”
