Afghans for Angels-Missouri

Afghans for Angels-Missouri volunteers who make small baby afghans/blankets for grieving parents that have lost an infant All afghans should be 18-24 inches square.

Please use SOFT baby yarns, knitted or crocheted with a tightly woven pattern with no openings larger than 1/8 or 1/4 inch in the weave. If you are a quilter, we accept little blankets of SOFT flannel. They can be backed with flannel or a cuddle type fabric and no batting is necessary. Birthing center nurses have specified neutral colors (white, cream, pastels, NO lavender/purple). There is a grea

ter need for more blankets suited for boys. We remind you that these blankets are for little babies, not young children and are meant as a keepsake for parents. Design & color choices should reflect this.

Most of our makers are ladies and ladies can be drawn to lovely pinks but we have heard from several nurses that they would like us to send more “boy” blankets. Keep that in mind as you purchase yarn and fabrics. And as you create, pray over those baby blankets for God’s comfort and peace to envelope the parents and families.
