The Missouri Academy of Family Physicians is proud of MAFP member Peter Koopman, MD, for his willingness to step forward and seek a position on the American Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors.

While Dr. Koopman was not elected, we are grateful for his commitment to family medicine and his interest in serving our specialty at the national level. Congratulations to MAFP Board Member Kento Sonoda, MD, on the publication of his first book!

A Practical Guide to Addiction Care, recently published in Japan, draws on Dr. Sonoda's training and clinical experience in addiction medicine in the United States to share practical, evidence-based guidance with healthcare professionals.

Through this work, Dr. Sonoda hopes to reduce stigma surrounding addiction, encourage meaningful conversations, and help more people access the care they need.
