Obituary, Reverend David LeRoy Hultberg, D.D., D. Th., D.M.
David LeRoy Hultberg of Castleberry, Alabama / Jay, Florida was born on October 5, 1934, in Moose Lake, Minnesota to the late Edward and Isabelle (Steyee) Hultberg. On July 28, 2026, at the age of 91, David peacefully entered into his eternal rest, embraced by the promise of God’s everlasting peace, and reunited with loved ones who journeyed before him. David devoted his life to discipleship and spreading the word of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. He served in various capacities in his life as pastor, minister, counselor, chaplain, missionary, and evangelist.
David graduated in 1953 from Moose Lake High School, Moose Lake, Minnesota. He attended Bible college and studied Christian theology and ministry at North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Most recently, David received the Christian degrees of Doctor of Christian Theology and Doctor of Divinity from the International Miracle Institute (IMI) on August 11, 2013, in Pensacola, Florida. David also received his Doctor of Ministry on October 27, 2013, and the Distinguished Alumni Award on September 3, 2023, from IMI.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy (Hodges) Hultberg, whose steadfast love and companionship were a constant source of strength.
Throughout their years together, David and Dorothy completed their Christian Doctorate degrees together. They devoted their time, spiritual gifts, and faith to traveling for ministry, preaching, teaching, and counseling people from all walks of life. They spent many years of dedicated service at the children’s home, My Father’s Arrows, located at 4025 County Road 178, Jay, Florida 32565. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sarah and Jason Ellis, Directors, from My Father’s Arrows for their love and care. In honor of David’s life of service, the family requests that donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to My Father’s Arrows. David and Dorothy’s shared heart for ministry and compassion touched countless lives, reflecting the love of Christ in action.
David’s legacy continues through his children: Julia Bell, Linda Heaviland, Jean (Eric) Roberts, and Diana (Domingo) Villarreal. His family tree flourishes through 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, all carrying forward the light of his life. David is also survived by his older brother, Edward Palmer Hultberg, who remains a cherished part of his family’s enduring legacy.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia (Gustafson Lahti) Hultberg, and by two sons, Daniel Scott and John Alan Hultberg. He also joins in Glory his son in law, James Willie Bell, and grandson, James Brandon Bell; his twin sister, Joanne (Milton) Kallinen; and his sisters, Marilyn (Gaylen) Kennedy, and Lorraine (Harold) Norman. Their memories remain deeply cherished.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Bethel Holiness Church, located at 5939 Old Pollard Rd, Jay, FL 32565, where David will also be laid to rest. The service will be officiated by Reverend Benny Wolfe and Brother Tim Chance.
Though David has stepped beyond this earthly life, his spirit endures in every life he touched, every service he offered, and every prayer he lifted. May his memory be a blessing, and may his loved ones feel the peace that surpasses all understanding as they carry his light forward.
