We are proud to announce that this semester, the Walker College Foundation awarded more than $320,000 in scholarship funds to students in and around Walker County. These funds support 58 students with college tuition scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year! 🌟

Thank you to our donors! 🌟 Because you gave.. 11 of your scholars will complete their time with the WCF Scholars’ Society and Bevill State Community College in 2026!

Jacey Myers (Jasper HS) attended BSCC on the WCF Dr. Jack L. Mott Scholarship. She will transfer to the University of Alabama at Birmingham to earn a degree in Nutrition.

Meleigha Mauldin (Sumiton Christian) attended BSCC on the WCF Olivia Dodd Sherer Scholarship. She will transfer to the
University of Alabama at Birmingham to earn a degree in Kinesiology.

Karlee Dunagan (Curry HS) attended BSCC on the WCF George & Willie Averitt Scholarship. She will transfer to Wallace State
CC to earn a degree in Diagnostic Imaging Technology.

Brittan Sandlin attended BSCC on the WCF Garry & Peggy Drummond Scholarship. She will transfer to the University
of Alabama to earn a degree in Public Relations.

Noelle Hogue attended BSCC on the WCF Academic Excellence Scholarship. She will transfer to Mississippi State University to earn a degree in Culinology.

Jeremy Thomas (Jasper HS) attended BSCC on the WCF Jasper High School Scholarship. He will transfer to the University of
Alabama at Birmingham to earn a degree in Kinesiology.

Ashleigh Keeton attended BSCC on the WCF Pinnacle Bank Scholarship. She will transfer to SNHU to earn a degree in Human
Resources.

Aileen Dang (Jasper HS) attended BSCC on the WCF Matthew & Ashley Laird Scholarship. She will transfer to Wallace State
CC to earn a degree in Sonography.

Berkley Allred (Jasper HS) is attending BSCC on the WCF E. A. Larry Drummond Scholarship. She will graduate with her
Associate Degree in Nursing.

Sara Beth Auble (Curry HS) is attending BSCC on the WCF Olivia Dodd Sherer Scholarship. She will transfer to Wallace State
CC to earn a degree in Sonography.

Noah McCuller (Carbon Hill HS) is attending BSCC on the WCF William S. Thornton Scholarship. He will transfer to a four-year
college to complete a degree in Computer Science.

We're excited to announce the recipients of the Baptist Health Scholarships for 2026-2027! 🌟

Thank you to Baptist Health Foundation for providing funds for three new scholarships! The New Generation of Nurses Baptist Health Foundation Scholarships will support WCF students pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Bevill State Community College.

These scholarships are made possible by the Baptist Health Foundation's Board of Directors and the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham to address the urgent need for nurses in our area.

Congrats to Mason Scruggs (Carbon Hill), Madalyn Hogland (Sumiton Christian), and Jillian Brown (Curry)! We look forward to watching all your success! 🎉

Where are they now? 🌟 We recently heard from WCF 2024 Grad, JR Dunagan!

"This spring, I graduated from the Harbert College of Business at Auburn University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing. I have since moved back home to Jasper and will begin a full-time outside sales position at Builder’s FirstSource! While the last two years at Auburn have been great, I am excited to begin this next chapter of my life and begin my career! This would not have been possible without the help from the Walker College Foundation, and additionally the Carl Elliott Institute! I am looking forward to keeping in touch and if there’s ever anything I can do to give back, please let me know!"

Walker College Foundation Scholar Orientation 2026! 🌟

We had another wonderful orientation with our current and upcoming scholars! We look forward to this event every year! Not only did they receive valuable school year information and resources, but also participated in a Bite of Reality simulation and heard from various speakers who have an impact on the foundation.

Bite of Reality is hosted by AlaTrust Credit Union and allows students to learn money management through real life situations! Reach out to AlaTrust to schedule an event for your group!

We also want to thank the community leaders and former scholars that volunteered to help with orientation, speak with students, and lead the Bite of Reality!

We are ready for another amazing school year! 🎉

We're excited to welcome Cody Gilbert to the Walker College Foundation Board of Trustees! 🎉

Cody Gilbert is a 2019 graduate of Curry High School. After high school, he attended Bevill State Community College (Jasper Campus) as a Walker College Foundation Scholar through the Dr. David Rowland Endowed Scholarship. He graduated from Bevill State in May 2021. During his time there, Cody was heavily involved on campus through a variety of student organizations. He served as an SGA Senator, Vice President of Campus Activities, and later as Student Government Association President during his second year.

Cody then transferred to The University of Alabama on a full-tuition transfer scholarship. While at Alabama, he remained actively involved on campus and served as President of the Society of Operations Management Students (SOMS). He graduated from The University of Alabama in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Operations Management and a minor in Supply Chain Management. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Operations Management with a concentration in Decision Analytics and Supply Chain Strategy through The University of Alabama Online.

Following graduation, Cody joined Southern Company as a Supply Chain Analyst, where he focuses on continuous improvement initiatives that enhance supply chain efficiency across Southern Company's subsidiaries. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham Forum of the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM).

Outside of his professional career, Cody serves as the Student Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator for The University of Alabama National Alumni Association's Walker County Alumni Chapter (Walker County Bama Club). He is also actively involved with The University of Alabama National Alumni Association, the Culverhouse College of Business, and the Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science. Through these roles, he is passionate about supporting first-generation and transfer students across Alabama, mainly focused in Walker County and West Alabama, as they pursue higher education opportunities and find success at The University of Alabama.
