Ever want to lock yourself in a cell without the criminal record? 🔒📸
This Saturday (Sept 26), swing by the Old Jail on North Main Street during the ArtWalk!
Our VP, Debra Peal, has been working hard behind the scenes putting together upgraded display cases and easier-to-view exhibits. It’s looking like a true, top-notch museum inside, and we want you to see it first.
Here is what’s happening from 2 PM to 8 PM:
• FREE admission (normally $5)
• Refreshments on us 🍪
• Photo-ops in the upstairs cellblock (the ultimate highlight of the tour!)
Come grab a drink, check out our local history, and get a mugshot style photo in the cells upstairs.
📅 When: Saturday, Sept 26 | 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 Where: Old Jail, North Main Street (Pickens)
Can’t make it this weekend? We’re open for tours every Thursday & Friday (1–3 PM), Saturdays (12–4 PM), and the second Sunday of every month.

Stumbled upon this deeply moving exhibit at the Chief Vann house in Chatsworth. The display features the story of David and Delilah McNair’s gravestone. In 1839, the grieving McNair family paid Irish stonemason Henry Fitzsimmons—who famously settled in Pickens County, Georgia, in the mid-1830s and was a pioneer in the marble industry, $150 to carve the monument from stunning Georgia Marble.
It’s incredible to think of the enduring legacy tied right back to our local roots through craftsmen like Fitzsimmons and the timeless beauty of Georgia Marble. History lives all around us if we take a moment to look!
