Looking back…

Here are a few quotes from the Herald on Saturday, April 7, 1990 that can still be said about our program today!

We have a director (& her family) who attended spring and summer Suzuki Institutes this year (as well as numerous other Strings, Inc. students); siblings still tag along to lessons, classes and institutes; and Friends of the Arts still sponsors us (as do many other generous community partners and donors!)

“…Robin plays with students during a group lesson. She keeps up with her own violin-playing by attending week-long seminars and institutes in the summer. “I consider that part of my education, even though it’s not college or something. A lot of the other education that I’ve got is just because I love to read — anything,” she says. Below, left, she talks about violins and music to first graders at Tenth Street School. Below, Bob Boehman bought a used violin and has been taking classes since September.”

“Parents of 3-year-old Ana Krodel bought her a cardboard violin to keep her away from her sister’s during class. Though not an official member of the program, Ana still attends and participates with the rest of the group. An example of the Mother Tongue language, Robin says, Ana usually moves her bow in sync with the other students.”

“…Strings in Jasper gets much of its support from an annual Friends of the Arts grant. Student fees and the Jasper Arts Commission and the school corporation also help.”

Join us tomorrow as the private lesson students of Strings, Inc. present their final spring recital of the season.

Tomorrow evening is an opportunity to celebrate their growth and enjoy an evening of music shared with the community.
