"No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. ... [The challengers] ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right." Love Wins!!!

TWO YEARS HAVE PASSED
The sun is shining bright in a solid blue sky. Robins are singing and hopping around, woodpeckers are knocking, wind chimes are pealing out a gentle background sound as prayer flags move in the breeze. Roadie is stretched out on the floor in the sunlit spot at my feet. I wish Paul would walk in from the kitchen with fresh steaming cups of coffee for the two of us and we could sit and plan a leisurely Saturday.
Paul is NOT sitting in his big brown recliner wracked with pain or drowsy with opiates. He is not struggling with shower and mobility problems, he is not frustrated or confused, he is not worrying about me or Carla or his friends. He is not trying to lift his feet high enough to step into the house. He is not being pushed in a wheelchair to multiple medical appointments. He is not receiving transfusions or chemo or radiation.
I know he is at peace as should we be. Life continues to present opportunities to treasure; grab each moment like Paul did.

PAUL MICHAEL ASH LEGACY GROWS:
FOUNDATION TO MATCH GIFTS MADE TO ART AND MUSIC ENDOWMENT

Dubois County, October 15, 2013: An outpour of community support continues to surround the Paul Michael Ash Art and Music Endowment, a fund established by the wife of the late Paul Ash, to honor his love of the arts.

A unique opportunity currently exists to grow this endowment. The Dubois County Community Foundation has announced it will match any donations made to this fund through the end of November, thanks to a generous donor.

This match opportunity includes the funds raised during a recent Will Read (and sing) For Food show held at the Jasper Arts Center that benefited the endowment. That show raised $441, which means the Community Foundation will add an extra $441 to that total. Earlier this year, Will Read (and sing) For Food raised $2,000 for the endowment.

“It comes as no surprise to how giving our community is to help out others,” says Scott Saalman, co-creator of Will Read (and sing) For Food. “We are very pleased on occasion to offer our show as a conduit to help raise money for Paul’s endowment. Our show last spring for the endowment was the most ever raised during one of our performances for any charity or organization we play for. That tells you how much Paul was—and still is—loved by friends, family and local music lovers alike. His spirit still lives during our shows; we still play his songs.”

The match opportunity continues through the end of November for this endowment. “Anyone connected to Paul Michael Ash or who appreciates the arts and music intertwined in the Ferdinand community should consider making a gift now to double the impact,” said Brad Ward, CEO of the Community Foundation.

Those interested in making a contribution to the Paul Michael Ash Art and Music Endowment through the dollar for dollar match should contact the Community Foundation at 482-5295, donate online at dccommunityfoundation.org or find Paul Michael Ash Art and Music Endowment on Facebook.
