Walker County ARES Walker Co ARES is a volunteer group of Amateur Radio Operators (Hams) that provide communications in the event of disasters.

We work directly with the Walker Co 911, Red Cross and other served agencies using protocalls set by the ARRL. We are part of a national organization that provide communication's during diasasters, public events and for organizations needing our service. There are no dues, all that is required is; you have to have your Amateur Radio license, list your information, so we know who you are, and list your contact information, in the event of an emergency where ARES is needed to assist one or more of our served agencies. It is not that hard to become a licensed Amateur Radio Operator. Additionally, you will find friendly hams willing to help you along the way...

We are truly grateful for United Way awarding our group a $2,500 grant to be used towards the purchases of equipment for the Mobile Communications Unit that will deployed in the field in times of disaster or where ever emergency communications are needed.
