Twenty-seven children.
That's how many beds were built in just five hours at Saturday's Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed build.
●Twenty-seven children who will no longer sleep on the floor.
●Twenty-seven children who will have a bed of their own.
●Twenty-seven children whose lives were made a little brighter because people chose to show up.
The best part? It didn't cost us a dime.
We didn't have to write a check. We didn't have to sacrifice a weekend getaway or give up a Saturday afternoon. All it took was a few hours on a Saturday morning and a willingness to serve.
If you've ever wondered how to make a difference in your community, this is it. Real change doesn't always come from grand gestures. Sometimes it comes from a sander, a handful of volunteers, and the decision to invest a few hours in the life of a child you'll never meet.
There are Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapters across the country, and there are children in every community who need your help.
Find a chapter near you. Show up. Build a bed. Lift the spirits of an innocent child. Give them a place to dream.
Because no child should have to sleep on the floor.
