At 7:45 this evening Jasper VFD was toned out for a mutual aid requests from Trout Creek Vol. Fire Department and Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Dept. They were requesting Tanker, Air Packs, and Man Power for a fully involved structure fire.

Jasper VFD responded with Tanker 2, Engine 5, Hazmat 1, and 13 firefighters. Upon arrival Jasper Fire took over interior attack operations of the fire and with the help of everyone got a quick handle on the flames.

Once the hot spots were knocked out, ventilation began with joint efforts, mop up proceeders were initiated, and Jasper VFD was released from the scene just short of 10:00

The fire was 25 miles away from our station 1 but Jasper Fire is always just a call away for help!

Training never stops in Jasper County, various aspects of emergency services often times requires more agencies and personnel than most think. Glad to see the local agencies teaming up to get the job done.

We cannot help others if we cannot help ourselves. Wellness checks and balances should be apart of everyone’s overall health plan.

Safety Stand Down 2026 takes place June 14-20 with a focus on Firefighter FITNESS: Fit to Serve, Fit for Life. Fitness is a critical component in keeping responders healthy, safe, and ready to serve their community. The theme highlights the importance of fitness to keep you serving at your best today and prepare you for a healthy and fit future.

The week will be broken into seven daily focus topics that take responders through the foundations of functional fitness, how they can continue to be met throughout the years, and sustainable strategies for long-term success. Specifically, the daily *FITNESS* topics are:

Sunday – (F) Foundations of Firefighter Fitness
Monday – (I) Intentional
Tuesday – (T) Technique
Wednesday – (N) Nutrition
Thursday – (E) Evaluation
Friday – (S) Sleep
Saturday – (S) Strategies for Success

Attention!

Due to the damage received from recent strong storm winds over the past few days, and the system that created a great amount of damage to the northern portion of Jasper County last night, coupled with projected additional storm systems moving into Jasper County and Southeast Texas over this weekend, a local declaration of disaster has been issued.

This declaration will allow our state, county and local personnel, emergency responders and utility service response crews to conduct operations as needed to protect our citizens' lives and their property.
