Women's Fund - Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin

Women's Fund - Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin Created in 2003, The Women’s Fund is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. All gifts are tax deductible. How does the Women’s Fund work?

Its Mission is to provide a permanently endowed funding source to non-profit agencies serving the needs of women and girls in Rock County. Donations to the Women’s Fund are welcome at any time of the year. Donate online here: https://cfsw.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create?funit_id=1963

The Women’s Fund seeks to reflect the population it serves in its make-up of donors and volunteers. Donors who wish

to participate in activities will be encouraged to do so regardless of their political views, sexual orientation, race, age, economic status, political or religious views. The Women’s Fund is a component of the Community Foundation. The Advisory Board is comprised of community volunteers and Community Foundation staff. The Advisory Board raises money for the endowment as well as recommends grants from the Women’s Fund in support of priorities they set related to the current needs of women and girls in Rock County Wisconsin. Why women and girls? Why not a fund for women and children? Or women and families? Forty years of research shows that social investments in women reduce poverty, raise productivity and accelerate economic growth. Encouraging women to build on their strengths increases self-worth. In addition, a higher level of self-esteem is passed along to future generations. Investing in girls yields even higher returns in terms of the effect on women’s wages, the decisions better educated women make about having children, and their capacity to raise healthy, educated children who go on to make good wages, choose smaller family size and invest in their own children. Support for women and girls ultimately benefits men and boys, too. By strengthening and enabling women, we can break the cycle of poverty in our community. The Women's Fund - Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin was a proud sponsor of the Milton House Museum Women's History Panel event in March, during Women's History Month. The speakers were wonderful and gave inspiring presentations on important women in history, some local, some national. We are grateful to the Milton House Museum for hosting this special, sold-out event and to all who attended. Brava to each presenter!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Grace & Grit Luncheon in support of our mission! Special thanks to all of our incredibly generous sponsors, to those who beautifully donated at the event, to our wonderful in-kind sponsors, to those who bid on the auction baskets and especially to our awesome speaker, author Lanier Scott Isom! We are also thankful to the guys who were there, as well, showing that real men stand up for empowering women. It was a room full of amazing, intellectual, community-minded people. We are grateful to live in and serve such a community!

Happy New Year from The Women's Fund! We're happy to share these photos and our sincere congratulations to our 2025 Grant Recipients! Each photo has a caption of the organization and their project. The following quote was from a thank you letter from one of them:

"Your commitment to empowering women, strengthening families, and creating opportunities for working parents aligns beautifully with our mission and collaboration with YWCA Rock County... Your partnership truly makes a difference."

SAVE THE DATE for our amazing fundraiser luncheon, "Grace and Grit" with guest speaker, Lanier Scott Isom on MARCH 26 at the Janesville Country Club!

Lanier co-authored the book Grace and Grit with activist Lilly Ledbetter. It is the inspiring story of the woman at the center of the historic discrimination case leading to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act. It highlights her fight for equal rights in the workplace, and how her determination became a victory for the nation. You won't want to miss this! Stay tuned for more info.

maintain the beautiful gardens of the Janesville Woman's Club.

Do you know the difference between these 2 orgs?

The WOMAN'S CLUB is a historic building that, since 1928, has been home to many Janesville clubs. It is maintained by the Foundation for the Preservation of 108 South Jackson with contributions from the various clubs who use this gorgeous building for their meetings, events and gatherings. It is also a lovely rental venue.

Created in 2003, THE WOMEN'S FUND is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. It is a local non-profit providing grants to area agencies and organizations serving the needs of women and girls in rock county. Its Advisory Board is comprised of community volunteers and Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin staff.
