Last week, NOVA’s Primary Prevention Coordinator, Alyssa Davis, proudly represented NOVA at the Bucks County NAACP’s Inaugural Scholarship Dinner Fundraising Event. Centered around the theme, “From Resistance to Resilience: The Power of Education,” the evening celebrated the importance of expanding access to education and helping students overcome financial barriers on their path to success. NOVA was honored to attend and join in recognizing the incredible scholarship recipients and their achievements!

Fun fact: Alyssa attended the event in a full NOVA Thrift Shop look from head to toe — her clothing, accessories, and shoes were all thrifted from NTS! ✨

We’re proud to share the successful pilot launch of NOVA’s newest prevention education initiative, We Want U 2 Know, presented in partnership with the Bensalem Township School District and the Bensalem Police Department at Snyder Middle School and Shafer Middle School. 💻📱

As technology and AI continue to evolve, so do the risks facing youth online. Through this new program, 7th grade students learned about digital safety, AI tools and deepfakes, online exploitation, cyber harassment, and the importance of using technology responsibly.

Using the SMART model, students are encouraged to:
🔹 Stay skeptical
🔹 Mind your privacy
🔹 Ask questions
🔹 Respect others
🔹 Think before using

The program is delivered in two phases:
🔹 Phase 1: A school-wide assembly introducing students to AI safety, deepfakes, online exploitation, and digital responsibility.
🔹 Phase 2: NOVA Prevention Educators return to classrooms for more in-depth conversations and skill-building focused on preventing AI-assisted bullying and exploitation.

NOVA is excited to continue expanding this important program to additional school districts interested in helping students navigate today’s rapidly changing digital world safely and responsibly.

For more information or to bring this program to your school district, please contact Alyssa Davis, NOVA Primary Prevention Coordinator (Pre-K, Elementary & Middle School) at [email protected].

This program was made possible through the generous support of Foundations Community Partnership’s BIIG Grant, helping NOVA expand AI risk awareness and digital safety education for youth in our community.

Representatives from NOVA and NOVA Thrift Shop recently had the pleasure of attending a wonderful third-party fundraiser fashion show benefiting NOVA at The Regency at Hilltown!

Not only did proceeds from the event support NOVA’s mission, but every look featured on the runway was thoughtfully curated from the racks of NOVA Thrift Shop. 👗🕶️🥿

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible organizers, models, and attendees who made this event so special. Your support helps us continue making a difference in our community!

We are giving the NOVA team a mental health break! NOVA's staff works tirelessly day in and day out to ensure that all victims and survivors of sexual assault and other crimes receive the support, care, compassion, and help they need. We can't think of a better way to thank them than by giving them time off. This summer, NOVA's offices will close at 2 p.m. each Friday between May 22nd and August 28th for Summer Fridays, giving NOVA staff time to relax and recharge.

☎️ NOVA's 24/7 Helpline will remain available 24/7 at 1-800-675-6900.

We had such a fantastic time this past weekend at the New Hope Celebrates Pride Fair! We came together to enjoy an afternoon of music, celebration, and meaningful connection. There’s nothing like coming together as a community to celebrate who we are and lift each other up with hope and pride! 🌈

Thank to you everyone who stopped by the NOVA table and celebrated with us!

As always, NOVA is committed to supporting all victims of crime, regardless of identity, sexual orientation, or background. You are seen, valued, and never alone.

As the school year comes to a close, we’re reflecting on all of the incredible Upstanders in Pennridge School District! 💭

For those unfamiliar with NOVA’s ENCOURAGE Upstanders Program, it is a peer education initiative that empowers high school students to become classroom leaders and role models for younger students. Through engaging presentations, peer educators use their own insight and experiences to encourage elementary and middle school students to recognize the importance of being an Upstander in bullying situations.

Before stepping into the classroom, NOVA works closely with these students to train and guide them as they create scenarios and dramatic illustrations that promote kindness, empathy, and a positive school community. 🧡

On Tuesday, NOVA was proud to participate in the Family Service Community Festival in Bristol Township! ☀️

Our Coordinator of Volunteers and Community Outreach, Julie Dugery, spent the day connecting with local families, sharing information about NOVA’s resources, and engaging with the community in a positive, family-focused environment. We were also glad to connect with Erika Flayer from the Bucks County District Attorney's Office Victim/Witness Unit!

Thank you to the Family Service Association of Bucks County and the Bucks County Children & Youth Social Services Agency for hosting this wonderful event, and thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to say hello.
