And for you guys who toss your tear offs—you better kick in…we picked up 31 😳 this week and missed a few here and there because we couldn’t keep stopping! We are volunteers and give up riding time to do this for everyone! Worked South short/int and North short. 😊

We just got home after another long, hot, sweaty day working on the Wambaw trails — giving up our own personal time riding so we can help make sure everyone else has a place to ride. ❤️

Then we came across this video from one of our riders, Derek, and it genuinely meant a lot to us.

Sometimes people see the trails and wonder, “Why don’t they do this?” “Why haven’t they fixed that?” “They should be doing this…” What isn’t always seen are the countless volunteer hours, personal sacrifices, equipment, fuel, repairs, planning, and hard work happening behind the scenes.

STAR is 100% volunteer. We don’t get paid to do this. We do it because we love this sport, we love our riding community, and we believe South Carolina’s public OHV trails are worth fighting for.

So tonight, instead of focusing on what still needs to be done, we want to focus on something positive.

Derek, THANK YOU. Thank you for taking the time to make this video, for helping spread the word, and especially for stepping up to help raise funds for STAR. Knowing that our riders recognize the work and want to become part of the solution means more than you probably realize.

There is still a tremendous amount of work ahead of us, and we can’t do it alone. Whether you donate, volunteer, share this video, or simply help spread the word about what STAR does — you are helping protect the future of public OHV riding in South Carolina.

These are OUR trails. This is OUR riding community. And together, we can make a difference. ❤️

Please watch Derek’s video, give it a share, and help us keep South Carolina riding!

Thank you, Derek — and thank you to everyone who continues to support STAR.

Help us out! Every donated dollar goes directly to trail maintenance—fuel, equipment, and supplies. We don’t get paid a dime; we volunteer our time because we love these trails. If you’d like to support what we do, please consider making a tax deductible donation. Every little bit helps, and we’re incredibly grateful for your support. ❤️🌲

📢 STAR UPDATE: Onward & Upward 💪 & GOOD news and BAD news:
✅ GREAT NEWS: We’re moving forward with our U.S. Forest Service Partnership Agreement! We’re currently operating under a temporary Volunteer Agreement while we finalize the full agreement (target: October 1). Excited about what expanded partnership opportunities mean for STAR’s future.
❤️ YEAR OF GIVING BACK: After Hurricane Helene, we and our very dedicated handful of volunteers cleared over 100 MILES of downed trees across SC’s national forests. We did it ourselves.
😥 We also invested hundreds of hours in a competitive grant application requesting $600k from South Carolina’s $1.2M in motorized trail funding derived from taxes on recreational fuels. Our application focused on rebuilding OHV trail tread at five public trails and critical drainage infrastructure at Enoree, Parsons Mountain, and Cedar Springs—with improvements at Manchester (restrooms for one) trails that riders depend on and our community desperately needs.
This funding cycle, the ENTIRE $1.2M “motorized” grant allocation went to Dorchester County Parks and Recreation for clearing downed trees along Ashley Scenic Blue River Trail—a 1.3-mile canoe and kayak trail.
💪What we’re doing: STAR won’t wait for grant cycles to turn. We’re deepening our partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, engaging local businesses, and building our sponsor network to complete the trail work that our community needs. If you or your business want to support OHV trail restoration in SC, reach out.
Let’s build this together. We continue to advocate and do the work for our awesome rider community. Again, even $5 helps with gas. ⛽️ It takes alot to load up, maintain equipment, haul back and forth, do the work and keep working so you can just enjoy your ride. We want to do so much more but have to raise the funds.

For those who say “yeah, well I pay my gate fee so they should be doing it.” Well, that is not how it is. Check out SORBA and other type of trail groups. They ALL depend on volunteers and fundraising. It’s just the way it is. Don’t be that guy. We are a great community and every riders help matters. 🥰
