βš“ Meet Rob Schult β€” proud USNA Class of 1992 graduate, submariner, lifelong sailor, and the newly appointed Secretary of the Rhode Island USNA Alumni Chapter πŸ“πŸŽ–

A Severna Park, MD native, he attended Naval Academy Prep School (’88) where he played soccer and sailed, then earned his B.S. in Naval Architecture at USNA while competing on the Varsity Offshore Sailing Team β›΅. After commissioning, he entered the Submarine Force, completing Nuclear Power School and serving aboard USS Hawkbill (SSN-666) in Pearl Harbor, qualifying as Engineer Officer and deploying on WestPac operations.

Following his JO tour, he served on the USNA Commandant’s Staff, earned a graduate degree in Engineering Management from GWU, and later transitioned to civilian life β€” all while supporting his wife, Meg (also USNA ’92), through her 30-year Navy career. His own post-Navy path led to an MBA from London Business School and a career as Research Director at TeleGeography, specializing in global telecom infrastructure.

Life has taken them from London to Naples, Italy, Monterey, CA, Bremerton, WA, and now back to Newport, RI β€” where he races Shields weekly, frostbites in the winter, and stays active in local sailing clubs, community service, and volunteer work. He and Meg have three grown children, two Catahoula dogs 🐾, and a shared passion for giving back.

βš“ Meet CAPT Conrad Donahue, USN (Ret.) β€” Submariner, leader, mentor, and proud Member-at-Large on the Rhode Island USNA Alumni Chapter Council πŸŽ–πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

A Class of 1973 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Oceanography, CAPT Donahue dedicated 30 years to submarine service, leading multiple patrols and deployments around the world 🌍. He commanded two ballistic missile submarines β€” USS SIMON BOLIVAR and USS HENRY M. JACKSON, earning multiple Battle β€œE” awards and the Marjorie Sterrett Battleship Fund prize for fleet excellence. βš“πŸ§

Post-retirement, he continued shaping the future force as a Naval Science professor at MIT & Boston University, and later supported undersea training systems at NUWC with Northrop Grumman.

Now fully retired, Captain Donahue brings a lifetime of leadership, technical excellence, and mentorship to our alumni community. He lives in Rhode Island with his wife Karen and is the proud father of four adult children πŸ’™

We are honored to have his wisdom and experience guiding the chapter as Member-at-Large.

βš“ πŸŽ– Meet Madina Petashvili β€” USNA Class of 2017, Navy veteran, Systems Engineer at NUWC, and the newly appointed Vice President of the Rhode Island USNA Alumni ChapterπŸŽ– πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Commissioned from the Naval Academy, Madina proudly served as a Surface Warfare Officer, leading in some of the Navy’s most critical roles β€” Ship’s Navigator, Legal Officer, Admin Officer, Main Propulsion Officer, and Executive Department Head. Her career took her from the USS Ashland (L*D 48) supporting amphibious missions with the U.S. Marines (forward-deployed in Japan πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅) to the USS Thomas Hudner (DDG 116) out of Mayport, FL 🌴, a ballistic missile defense destroyer, through her maiden and COVID-era deployment.

She operated across the 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 7th Fleets, navigating high-stakes missions with grit and precision β€” from the Suez Canal, Red Sea, Arabian Gulf, and Arabian Sea, to the Black Sea, Turkish Straits, and even the Arctic Circle ❄️. Madina is a proud Shellback (having crossed the Equator 🌍) and a two-time Blue Nose, honoring her Arctic crossings among many other time-honored naval traditions. βš“πŸ’β„οΈ

Now, she continues to serve in a new capacity as a Systems Engineer at KMS Solutions supporting undersea warfare innovation at NUWC πŸ”§. Off duty, she’s deeply engaged in real estate investing, exploring tech and data science, and mentoring fellow veterans and professionals.

Madina leads with heart, discipline, and a passion for service β€” committed to building resilient communities and making meaningful impact wherever she goes πŸ’ͺ🏽🏑✨

She’s got roots in resilience, a heart for healing, and a brain that loves solving hard problems πŸ’‘ β€” whether it’s building AI models, mentoring young professionals, or managing a multifamily property from scratch 🏘️. Oh, and she’s low-key obsessed with Amazon finds, yoga flows πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ, and her pup Bentley 🐢 🧭
