HAPPY PRIDE! Downtown Jamestown is buzzing with activity and love right now! We will be performing a new work, WE TRIED TO BE NORMAL, at 1:30pm, Wintergarten Plaza! This is work is quite different than anything we have created thus far, and we are excited to share it with you all. See you all soon! Jamestown Pride

🌈 Come see us at Jamestown Pride! 🌈

We're excited to share our new work "We Tried to Be Normal", a brand new experimental dance-theater performance specially created for Jamestown Pride 2026.

We are asking the question: "What happens when we stop shrinking ourselves for the comfort of others?"

Blending contemporary dance, theater, humor, storytelling, and audience participation, We Tried to Be Normal explores identity, belonging, resilience, and the joy of being fully seen. Created in response to this year's Pride theme, "Courageous Together. Proud Forever.", the work celebrates visibility, connection, and unapologetic presence.

We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of our community, genuinely blown away... WOW.

Thanks to your support, Sukanya Burman Dance raised nearly $6,100 through Give Big CHQ, reaching 122% of our fundraising goal for the year! Even more encouraging, we nearly doubled the number of donors who supported our campaign compared to last year, a testament to the growing community that believes in our mission and the power of dance.

Beyond the dollars raised, this campaign sends a powerful message: dance matters in this community. Dance matters to this community. And perhaps now more than ever, dance, arts, culture, and opportunities for connection matter in this moment. We are deeply encouraged by the number of people who chose to stand behind that belief.

Every contribution, share, word of encouragement, class attendance, performance ticket, and act of support helps make this work possible. The funds raised will help us expand accessible programming, provide fair compensation to artists and teaching artists, and move closer to purchasing a portable dance floor that will allow us to bring dance into schools, public spaces, and communities throughout the region.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation for organizing Give Big CHQ and creating this incredible opportunity for nonprofits across the county. We are equally grateful to the individuals, businesses, and foundations who contribute to the various challenge funds, stretch pools, and incentive prizes that help amplify donations and inspire even greater community participation throughout the day.

To everyone who donated, shared our campaign, and cheered us on throughout the day: thank you. We are deeply grateful for your trust, your generosity, and your belief in what we're building together.

And now, onward to the Jamestown Dance Festival!

See you in September.

Good golly... just four hours later and we are already over 80% of the way toward our $5,000 goal for Give Big CHQ!

What has amazed us most is not just the amount raised, but the number of people who have chosen to support our work. We've already surpassed last year's total number of unique donors, and we've been especially encouraged by the number of new supporters joining our community for the first time.

Year after year, we continue to be humbled by the generosity, enthusiasm, and belief that people place in our mission. Over the past year, we've felt our network and community growing in meaningful ways, and today's outpouring of support feels like a reflection of that growth.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our campaign, attended a performance, taken a class, volunteered, or cheered us on along the way!

Now... who wants to help us get across the finish line? 😊

P.S. Donations made within the next hour will help us compete for a larger share of the 716 Stretch Pool, stretching your support even further and increasing its impact! Campaign ends at midnight!

Hi friends!

We're nearly one-third of the way toward our Give Big CHQ goal this year. Thank you to everyone who has already supported our campaign. Your generosity means so much to us and to the artists, students, and community members we serve!

If you've been considering making a gift, there's still time! Donations will be accepted until midnight, and gifts made before 7:16 PM will have an even greater impact through bonus funding opportunities.

Why support Sukanya Burman Dance? This year, we're raising funds to help expand accessible dance programming, provide fair compensation to artists and teaching artists, and purchase a portable dance floor that will allow us to bring high-quality dance experiences into public spaces throughout our community. Every contribution helps move us closer to making that vision a reality.

We are asking hard questions right now about what a community truly needs.

Yes, food, housing, healthcare, and education are essential. They keep people alive, and they must be supported.

But survival alone is not enough.

Without spaces for expression, reflection, and shared experience, we lose something fundamental about being human.

Dance is one of those spaces. It builds connection where there is isolation, meaning where there is noise, and presence where there is distraction.

Please consider supporting SBD for Give Big CHQ 2026. Every dollar creates meaningful impact. Thank you again for helping us bring dance to the people!

Hi friends! A friendly reminder that Give Big CHQ begins at 12:00 AM on June 11.

Will I be awake for the whole 24 hours? Yes!

Should you be awake? I'm not suggesting you should but if your are a night owl, early bird or find yourself periodically doomscrolling your social media feed, this is an excellent reason to donate to our grassroots org and share our post with your friends.

As someone who runs a dance organization, I am contractually obligated to tell you that dance is important.

As a human being, I genuinely believe communities are stronger when they have access to art, creativity, and opportunities to gather together.

If you've attended any of our performances, taken a class, cheered on a artist, volunteered, donated, shared a post, or simply encouraged our work along the way, thank you.

We hope you'll consider making a gift to SBD. And if you're able, donating during the times listed below can help us unlock bonus funds and matching opportunities, making your contribution go even further.

✨ 5–7 AM: Sound the Alarm Bonus
✨ 7:16 AM–7:16 PM: 716 Stretch Pool (10 unique donors can help unlock additional funding)
✨ 9 AM, 2 PM & 7 PM: Minute Match opportunities
✨ 12–1 PM: Roll the Returns Bonus
✨ 9–10 PM: Built by Generosity Bonus

Every gift matters. Whether it's $10 or $100, your support helps us continue bringing exceptional dance and meaningful artistic experiences to our community.
