Hey! Anyone know what today is!? Yes, you’re right! It’s today and it’s time to go out and do a little something for the environment! Pick up some trash. Plant some native pollinator plants (instead of tossing your plastic petunia container in a lake)! Compost things you normally would throw away! Go on a nature walk and enjoy the sound of birds and bugs! Especially dragonflies!

Tonight The Dragonfly Club attended the public hearing on new 1,4 Dioxane rules. Katie Schoenfelder Gumerson shared a public comment, demanding real action and accountability from upstream polluters. The 1,4 Dioxane problem in North Carolina is the worst in the entire country. It’s a likely human carcinogen, which means it causes cancer. And the proposed new rules do not regulate this forever chemical in any way that will positively impact our health. So we asked for transparency to know what is in our water. We asked for polluter accountability. We asked for urgency. Please become informed about what is happening in your area with your water! It’s never too late.
Tonight, even our 8 year old founder, GG, made an impact by going to the meeting, listening, and learning what is happening right here in our town! You can too!

Join us on Sunday for a day of service! We cleaned this waterway last summer and boy was it trashy!
(Wear shoes that can get wet, like crocs or galoshes and bring a trash pincher if you have one! We try to stay out of the creek, but sometimes its just too fun and we get in!)

Spring has sprung! Today we saw some baby goslings! We love nature here at the DC, and animals depend on us to take care of their environment. Its easy to do your part!
