leading organized crime and identity theft—after running a fraudulent staffing agency that placed unlicensed, unqualified impostors in long-term care facilities.

Between 2017 and 2019, David Mungai Njenga stole the identities and credentials of 5 real Washington nurses to trick facilities into hiring his workers. The reality? Some of these impostors couldn't even take a patient's blood pressure and were dispensing incorrect medications, putting vulnerable residents at massive risk.

Njenga now faces up to 16.5 years in prison. For the nursing community, this is a chilling reminder of how easily a hard-earned license can be stolen and misused without your knowledge, potentially trailing you into board investigations for care you never provided. 🩺⚠️

Webinar: Addressing Cannabis Use Disorder in Primary Care Settings—A Lifespan Approach

Thursday, June 11, 1:30 p.m. ET

The prevalence of cannabis use and cannabis use disorder (CUD) is increasing in all age groups, in parallel with increasing product potency and public acceptance of use. Cannabis use has also increased among pregnant women, despite evidence linking prenatal cannabis use to adverse neonatal and maternal health outcomes.

This webinar provides healthcare professionals with evidence-informed guidance on cannabis use and CUD across the lifespan.

Dr. Alan J. Budney, a clinical psychologist and Professor at Dartmouth’s Center for Technology and Behavioral Health, will explore effective screening and patient education strategies, when to refer for specialty treatment, and key considerations for adolescence, young adulthood, middle adulthood, during pregnancy, and older adulthood.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer. It is a day of remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms.

The North Dakota Board of Nursing extends our deepest gratitude to all who have served, including the military nurses and healthcare personnel who cared for others in times of war, crisis, and sacrifice. Their courage, compassion, and service will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends today, may we also take a moment to reflect on the cost of freedom and honor the memory of those who gave everything for it.

Our office is closed today in observance of Memorial Day. Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, May 26.
