The Fentress County Emergency Communications District is accepting applications for 911 Telecommunicator. Applications may be picked up at the 911 Center located at 116 Justice Center Dr. Jamestown Tn. between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday – Friday.
Duties Include but are not Limited to:
- Answers emergency (911) and non-emergency calls.
- Determines type, location, and extent of emergency and inputs data into the districts Computer Aided Dispatch system.
- Relays information to appropriate emergency personnel via the dispatch radio console
- Assists callers with basic life support procedures.
- Reads maps and gives directions to the location of the incident.
- Enters information such as stolen vehicle, stolen weapons, s*x offenders, orders of protection, and wanted / missing individuals into State and Federal Database.
- Attends training sessions as required.
- Employees may be required to wear a headset and sit/stand for long periods of time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
- Must pass a TBI criminal background check.
- Must have good communications skills.
- Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
- Not have been convicted or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances.
- Previous dispatch experience preferred but not required.
The following certifications must be obtained within 6 months of the hire date. Fentress County 911 will provide the training for anyone hired for the position,
- Basic Telecommunicator Certification
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
- National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Query Certification
Additional information
Starting Salary is $14.50 an hour, $15.50 after training and certification.
Fentress County E-911 serves the citizens of Fentress County. The mission of Fentress County 911 is to serve as the vital link between citizens and the emergency responders of Fentress County by providing emergency and non-emergency services in a prompt, courteous, and efficient manner.
The dispatchers at Fentress County 911 are the initial emergency contact for providing life-saving assistance over the phone while dispatching Law Enforcement, EMS, Fire, Rescue, Emergency Management and first responders to incidents. Fentress County 911 serves the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
This position requires a high level of responsibility, flexibility, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and maintain privacy and confidentiality.
