Busti Historical Society

Busti Historical Society The Busti Historical Society is home to the restored 1839 Busti Grist Mill, the 1846 miller's house, museum and demonstration building. Come see us in Busti!

We actively collect and preserve Busti History and teach about history and skills of the 1800's. We are open 11 am-2 pm the third Sunday of every month May through October, or by appointment. We restored and now maintain, and demonstrate the 1839 historic Busti Grist Mill. Every fall we host the annual Busti Apple Festival on the last Sunday of September. We are actively collecting and preserving

documents, artifacts, photos and information about the local families both past and present that have lived here in Busti. We teach pioneer and 19th century life and survival skills. Renovation and restoration of the 1846 miller house is our ongoing project. Our monthly meetings are held on the grounds the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Museum basement March through December.

Have you seen our mural? This advertisement was added to the back side of the mill while it was still in operation as a feed store where you could purchase Occident Flour. It has been repainted twice since the mill restoration project began.
The Occident Flour company had several mills, the closest located in Buffalo NY.
The mural can be spotted from Mill Road on your way into Busti, or by walking around the mill while you are on the grounds. We are open for visitors every Friday this summer, stop by and see it, and everything else we have to offer.
