Cal-Wood is located on 1,200 acres of ponderosa pine and spruce/fir forest, at elevation 7,800 feet, surrounded by the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest . Abundant wildlife includes deer, elk, mountain lion, black bear, bobcat, coyote, and countless species of birds and small mammals. Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, we are 15 miles northwest of downtown Boulder, just outside Jamestown, Colorado.

These trails make everything we do possible. 🌿🥾

Better paths mean we can reach more participants, run more programs, and keep opening up the mountains to people who’ve never had that experience before — and that’s worth showing up for. 😁 We’re spending a day out there with clearing overgrown vegetation, maintaining drainage, and repairing tread — and there are a few spots left.

Cal-Wood is honored to be part of Give Outdoor Learning — a statewide celebration of environmental and outdoor education. What we do here goes far beyond the classroom. It’s the student who finds their confidence on a hiking trail. The child who looks up at the stars for the first time and feels something shift. The family that discovers a deeper connection to the land and to each other.🫱🏾‍🫲🏼🏕️🐝
