Growing out of a memorial garden created for my 15-year-old daughter who died in 2010, Keri's Milkw**d & Monarch Project hopes to raise awareness about the connection between milkw**d and monarch butterflies, and to help these beautiful creatures survive!

A Rhode Island man is honoring his late daughter by sending milkw**d seeds across the country to save the monarch butterfly population.

A first for me: monarch mating.

I was watching from my office window when a male knocked a female to the grass, then pinned her to the ground.

I grabbed my camera and went outside. By then, the male had carried off the female to the side of my house. Luckily, the pair flew back and into a nearby tree.

There, they talked about their Zodiac signs and how they really like the nectar from yellow flowers but not so much the red...

Afterwards, a female (can't say it was this one) spent a significant amount of time in our butterfly garden on an egg-laying spree!
