On Wednesday evening, the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation was pleased to join the Robert H. Jackson Center for the unveiling of new lighting illuminating the statue of Robert H. Jackson.

Originally dedicated in 1996 by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the statue honors one of our region’s most influential figures, whose legacy of justice and public service continues to inspire generations.

The new lighting beautifully showcases this tribute, ensuring Jackson’s legacy remains a visible and celebrated part of our community. Congratulations to the Robert H. Jackson Center and everyone involved in bringing new light to this important local landmark!

Sometimes, community impact happens one step at a time! The new set of stairs and handrail at the Allen Park Bandshell have made the beloved community space safer and more accessible—while fitting beautifully into one of Jamestown’s most picturesque settings.

The project was made possible through a partnership between the Allen Park Women’s Club and a Community Impact Grant from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. Throughout the summer, the bandshell comes alive with music, bringing neighbors together for Jamestown’s municipal band concerts. Projects like this help ensure the places where our community gathers continue to serve the region for years to come. It’s a great example of what happens when local organizations and community philanthropy work together: practical improvements that make a lasting difference.

Generosity is just the beginning.

On September 18, friends, family and community members gathered at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute to honor Pierre Chagnon, recipient of the 2026 John D. Hamilton Community Service Award. The turnout was a fitting reflection of the many lives Pierre has touched through his years of service, leadership and generosity. Congratulations, Pierre, on this well-deserved recognition — and thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating a life of service to our community.

We recently awarded a General Grant to Gerry Volunteer Fire Department to assist in the purchase of a turnout gear extractor. This extractor is strongly recommended by OSHA to help prevent cancer in firefighters.

Collaboration was on full display on Monday, as we attended the ribbon cutting for The JAY, an exciting partnership between Jamestown Community College and the Jamestown Area YMCA! The JAY represents a shared vision for bringing wellness, education, athletics, childcare and youth development together to create new opportunities for people of all ages throughout our community.

Congratulations to JCC, the YMCA and everyone who has helped bring this collaborative vision to life. We were proud to be there to celebrate this exciting step forward for our region!
