We are 10 sleeps away from the 40th Annual Jimmie Scramble. Let's rundown a few notable notes:

⛳️ Raffle tickets are still available. $100 / ticket with only 100 tickets sold.

🥈2nd place - Single season membership to the Jamestown Country Club (new members only)

🥉3rd place - Sunday Golf Big Rig Cart bag and UJ Jimmies Women’s & Men’s Golf gear.

Today, the University of Jamestown announced that Brian Mistro ('09) has been named Athletic Director and Tom Dosch has been appointed Head Football Coach.

Both leaders have dedicated themselves to serving our students, strengthening our programs, and advancing the mission of the University of Jamestown.

As we continue building momentum in NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), we are excited about the future of University of Jamestown Athletics under their leadership.

Today, we shared that Athletic Director Austin Hieb has accepted the position of Deputy Athletic Director with South Dakota State University.

We are grateful for Austin’s leadership and the impact he has made on Jimmie Athletics, our student-athletes, and the University of Jamestown community.

Happy Memorial Day. 🇺🇸 Today we honor those who died in service to this nation by remembering these brave souls and honoring their courage.

One of these many brave souls was Lieutenant Junior Grade Leroy C. Deede, who grew up in Woodworth, North Dakota, and studied biology at Jamestown College (now University of Jamestown). He was a member of the football team, the Chemistry Club, and the Medical Club while studying here. 🧡🖤

Deede enlisted in the Naval Reserve in 1937 shortly after graduating from JC. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for outstanding service during a bombing attack in December 1941, according to the North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs, and was killed in action in June 1942.

The destroyer-escort ship USS Deede was named in his honor and was launched in April 1943. The ship served in the Pacific Ocean through the end of World War II. ⚓️

We have great news from UJ Strength and Conditioning Coach Ryder Weischedel, who earned the Master Strength and Conditioning Coach (MSCC) designation through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches association - CSCCa.

To reach this prestigious distinction, coaches have to meet extensive professional criteria, including maintaining certification through the CSCCa since 2009 and serving as a full-time collegiate and/or professional strength and conditioning coach for a minimum of 12 years while actively practicing in the field. 💪

🧡🖤 Weischedel played football and wrestling at UJ (Class of '07!) and became the Jimmies' strength and conditioning coach in 2018. He oversees strength and conditioning programming and student wellness initiatives for more than 650 student-athletes across 25 athletic programs. In 2023, he was named University of Jamestown Staff Person of the Year.
