Zonta Club of Jamestown Members Attend Zonta International Convention in Vancouver

Seven members of the Zonta Club of Jamestown joined Zontians from around the world at the 67th Zonta International Convention, held July 11–14 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The four-day gathering featured education, networking, organizational business and inspiration focused on advancing Zonta’s mission of building a better world for women and girls. The Convention included keynote presentations, educational sessions, advocacy activities and discussions about the future of Zonta International.

Keynote speakers included Sally Armstrong, a Canadian journalist, humanitarian and author known for her work on women’s rights, and Melina Laboucan-Massimo, a Lubicon Cree advocate for Indigenous rights, climate justice and sustainable solutions.

The Convention’s “Build a Better World” Breakthrough Sessions offered practical ideas on leadership, advocacy, human rights, gender equality, violence against women, climate action, membership and communications. Other sessions focused on engaging younger members, protecting children online, ending period poverty and strengthening Zonta’s “Zonta Says No” campaign.

The Convention was especially significant for the Zonta Club of Jamestown as three local members were elected to leadership positions within Zonta District 4 for the 2026–2028 biennium. Eileen Healy was elected Area 5 Director, Jill Colburn was elected District 4 Treasurer, and Rosie Papalia was elected District 4 Lieutenant Governor.

The Jamestown members also exchanged ideas with Zontians from many countries and learned about innovative service and advocacy projects. They returned home with new ideas and renewed enthusiasm for advancing Zonta’s mission in the Jamestown community.

Zonta Club of Jamestown Receives Donation for Amelia Earhart Fellowship Fund
The Zonta Club of Jamestown recently received a generous donation to support Zonta International's Amelia Earhart Fellowship Fund. The contribution was presented by Colleen Reeve to Cheryl Grey, a member of the club's Scholarship Committee, following the 6th Annual Amelia's Landing Invitational Golf Tournament held at Chautauqua Golf Club on July 31, 2026.
The donation was made possible through the generosity of the women who participated in the annual tournament, which celebrates the legacy of pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart while raising funds to support women pursuing advanced studies in aerospace engineering and space sciences.
Established in 1938 in honor of famed aviator and Zontian Amelia Earhart, the Amelia Earhart Fellowship Fund awards fellowships to women from around the world pursuing doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and space sciences. Since its inception, the program has helped hundreds of women achieve their educational goals and make significant contributions to research, innovation, and exploration.
The Zonta Club of Jamestown is dedicated to building a better world for women and girls through service, advocacy, and education. As a member of Zonta International, the club supports local and international initiatives that promote women's rights, expand educational opportunities, and work to end gender-based violence. Through scholarships, community partnerships, and service projects, the club strives to empower women and girls and strengthen the Chautauqua County community.

Zonta Club of Jamestown Welcomes Six New Members
The Zonta Club of Jamestown proudly welcomed six new members, strengthening its commitment to building a better world for women and girls through advocacy, education, and service.
The club inducted Tammy Pacheco, Rachel McKillip, Suzette Smith, Mary Soto, Terri Crandall, and Kelly Amatuzzo into membership. Each new member was officially welcomed during the induction ceremony and pledged to support Zonta's mission of empowering women and girls locally and around the world.
Founded in 1919, Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals dedicated to empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. The Zonta Club of Jamestown supports numerous local initiatives, including scholarships, leadership development, community service projects, and programs that promote the health, safety, education, and economic empowerment of women and girls.
The addition of six new members reflects the continued growth of the Zonta Club of Jamestown and its ongoing commitment to serving the Chautauqua County community. New members will have opportunities to participate in service projects, fundraising efforts, advocacy initiatives, and educational programs throughout the year.
The Zonta Club of Jamestown meets regularly and welcomes individuals who are interested in making a difference in the lives of women and girls.
