Our co-founder, Tom Callahan, passed away suddenly last Thursday.
This is really, really awful. Tom was a dear and loving friend, a mentor and help to so many people in his vocation, a fashion icon, a consummate networker and wing man, a classic Irish storyteller and soda bread baker, and an all-around fine human being. I was proud to be his sidekick, and that’s not said lightly. We are all particularly sad for his partner, known affectionately by us as Tom 2.
Thank you for all the condolences from those of you who already knew about this. There is no public funeral service. However, his coworkers and friends at Archer Law Office, LLC would like to celebrate his well-lived life on July 6, so there are details below. Bring your joys and stories about Tom.
Networking With Style continues on hiatus while we process this loss.
Please read this post for details about the party for Tom Callahan. Also please feel free to share this with anyone, anywhere, who you think might be interested.
As we have mentioned to some of you, Tom was adamantly opposed to having a funeral or some other sad occasion when he passed. He wanted a party, and a party we shall have!
Where: Nottingham Ballroom - 200 Mercer Street, Hamilton, NJ 08690 (yes. Of course Tom would be happy for this to be in a BALLroom.)
When: TUESDAY, JULY 6, 4-8pm. Come and go as you please.
As Tom would say, “I have rules for how this should go.” First of all, this is not a sad occasion. This is not a memorial. There will be no "speeches." This is a PARTY.
Do NOT wear black (if you do, we reserve the right to spraypaint you). The brighter and louder the colors and outfits, the better (and bonus points for anything Hawaiian-themed). We will have, per Tom’s instructions, plenty of hors d’oeuvres and beverages (not exclusively of the alcoholic variety).
How can you help?
1. If you can give us a general idea of whether you’re coming, and/or how many, let us know. It does help with the planning somewhat.
2. If you have “Tom”-isms (sayings of his), or pictures of him, please send them directly to Carl at [email protected]. We will have a bunch of them scattered throughout the room.
3. We will be telling inappropriate jokes and stories, and some of them may even be about Tom. Please feel free to bring your own.
What has Tom said to YOU that you think he would want people to know? Please feel free to comment below.
