The Highland Rec Association donated a polywood picnic table to the Knox-Kane Rail Trail, this past fall. It sits under this newly built pavilion along the trail, between mile markers 55 & 56.
We chose this quote by T.S. Elliot to be printed on the plaque.

"Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go".

Get out there and live life the way life is intended to be lived! 💚

***CANCELLED***

We ran into some issues today at the Lamont Community building and the weather is not looking good this afternoon, so we made the last minute decision to cancel the egg hunt.
But…. We delivered our eggs to Country Pines to be included in their egg hunt at 1pm!

So head on out to Country Pines and join in on the fun!

As per the request of the Highland Township supervisors, the Rec Association has removed their belongings from township property.
This decision was made in early February, due to personal issues with the current supervisors and board members of the HTRA.
We were advised to remove all belongings by May 6th, and we honored that request.

The pavilion, which was paid for by the Rec Association, has been donated to the township. We are hopeful it will be used for recreational purposes, as it was originally intended.

Thank you all for your continued support, and kind words during this transition. ❤️

We will continue to provide family oriented activities for the community, in alternate locations in and around the Kane area.
Keep an eye on our page for upcoming events!

Just a few pics of kids receiving their trees from the Neighborhood Forest program. It was raining off and on during tree pick-up, but we managed a few pics in between. Thanks for joining us during Earth Week 2023! 🌲🌎💚

Our trees have arrived!
A whole box of cute, little Red Cedar trees from the Neighborhood Forest program.
We’ll still be at the James City ball field on Saturday from 2-2:30pm, to hand them out but it looks like it’s going to be pouring down rain.
So if anyone would like to grab their’s TOMORROW (Friday)… I’ll be at Evergreen Park at the GAZEBO between 3-3:30 to hand them out also!
If you’re not able to make either of these times, just let me know and I’ll get them to you!

Thank you and Happy Earth Week!

A little bit about us...

The Highland Recreational Association was formed in 2010 to provide recreational and educational activities for area citizens. We sponsor family friendly events throughout the year including, an annual Car/Motorcycle Show at the James City ball field, a children’s Halloween party with pumpkin carving and Scarecrow building contests, Christmas with Santa and luminaries. We also provide a pavilion and picnic area at the park in James City which includes a kids skate park and baseball field.

Prior to being the HTRA we organized was known as “James City Days” in previous years.
