June is Gun Violence Awareness Month, and this kickoff event was a powerful reminder of what our community looks like.

Restoration Plaza was filled with people committed to change. Survivors shared their stories with courage, families connected, resources were available, and the day reflected hope, healing, and unity.

The sea of orange was more than awareness. It represented a commitment to safer communities and support for those impacted by violence.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared, and helped make this kickoff meaningful. The work continues, but this was a strong way to begin the month. 🧡

June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month.

Across New York City, we will come together to raise awareness, share resources, and strengthen the work being done every day to keep our communities safe.

The New York City Crisis Management System () is a network of organizations and individuals working to prevent violence, support those affected by it, and create pathways to healing, hope, and opportunity. Our shared goal is simple: no shootings, no lives lost, and stronger communities.

On June 2 (Tomorrow), organizations and individuals from across the city and beyond will gather at Brooklyn Restoration Plaza to raise awareness, connect residents with resources, and highlight the work happening every day in neighborhoods throughout New York City.

This is not just a press conference. It’s an opportunity to learn, connect, and better understand why this work matters.

Whether you’re directly connected to this work or care about the future of our communities, we invite you to join us.

“Attending the 2nd Annual Latine Convening on Gun Violence was both powerful and deeply personal for me. As a proud Black Latina and Executive Director of LIFE Camp Inc., it meant so much to stand in a space committed to healing, prevention, and community-driven change alongside leaders from across the country.

These conversations are necessary. They remind us that representation matters, lived experiences matter, and real solutions happen when we bring every part of who we are into the work.

Gun violence impacts our communities in deeply personal ways, and gatherings like this create space for truth, collaboration, culture, and collective healing. I’m grateful to continue building bridges between communities, uplifting voices that deserve to be heard, and leading with both purpose and love.”

What’s happening across the world reminds us why conversations like this matter. 🧡✌🏾

LIFE Camp Inc. welcomed members of the Israel community through the CoLab Fellowship to learn directly from our team about Community Violence Intervention, healing-centered engagement, and how we’ve helped create safer communities here in NYC.

From Queens to Israel, the message is the same: violence prevention starts with people, healing, and community. The fact that leaders from another part of the world are coming to LIFE Camp to study our methods shows how powerful community-led peacebuilding can truly be.

Peace is a LIFEstyle.

And that message is reaching beyond borders. 🌍🧡

LIFE Camp Inc. stood with .in.violence.out
and the community to honor the life of Quah-Mir Cruz.

This work is deeper than programs and events. Every day, organizations across our city pour love, guidance, healing, and opportunities into our youth to help them change their lives and see a future beyond the streets.

Quah-Mir’s story showed growth, resilience, and potential.
This was not the ending his life deserved.

We are tired of losing our young people before they have the chance to become who they were meant to be. That’s why we will continue showing up, mentoring, healing, and fighting for peace in every community.

Gone too soon, but never forgotten. 🕯️🎈🧡

20 days ago, 15-year-old Jaden Pierre lost his life to gun violence in Queens.

The headlines may slow down, but for families and communities affected by violence, the pain never truly leaves.

This work is real for us.
24 hours a day. 7 days a week. 365 days a year.
Working to prevent situations before they happen. Working to protect our youth. Working to keep peace alive in our communities.

Tomorrow, we gather not only to remember Jaden, but to remind our community that our young people will never be forgotten.

We will continue to keep Jaden’s spirit alive through peace, unity, and community. ✌🏾🧡
