Over the past several months, these young women showed up, learned, served, stretched themselves, and made it to the finish line. We are proud of each of them and excited to see where they go from here.

We also want to thank Kyomi Dana, our YWLA Program Director and Leadership Development Instructor, for the time, care, and consistency she has given to our young women over the years. She has poured so much into this program, and Cohort 9 is another reflection of that work.

“Confidence makes you jump even when your wings are broken, because you know you can still fly.”

Those words captured the heart of Sonia Noel’s interview during our 2026 Awards Luncheon. A celebrated Guyanese fashion designer, entrepreneur, and GGRF Woman of Inspiration Honoree, Sonia reflected on her journey from struggling with self-confidence to discovering her purpose. She shared that true confidence comes from within, encouraged others to know they are enough, and reminded us not to let society’s labels define who we are.

Jennifer Bisram, Emmy Award-winning journalist, CBS television anchor, reporter, and a 2026 GGRF Woman of Inspiration Honoree, shared a powerful message during our recent event. Her reminder was simple yet lasting: success is built through patience, perseverance, and staying true to who you are. Most importantly, she encouraged every girl to embrace her identity because it is one of her greatest strengths.

Founded by Cloyette Harris-Stoute, the Guyanese Girls Rock Foundation has dedicated itself to creating opportunities for young women through mentorship, leadership development, scholarships, and educational programming. That mission was reflected throughout the luncheon, where graduates, scholarship recipients, accomplished women, and emerging leaders shared the stage in an atmosphere defined by encouragement, celebration, and genuine community. Every achievement was celebrated as a collective success, reinforcing the belief that when one woman succeeds, an entire community moves forward with her.

The Guyanese Girls Rock Foundation celebrated scholarships, leadership, and mentorship at its 2026 Awards Luncheon, empowering the next generation of Guyanese women.

For the past nine years, our greatest measure of success has never been the luncheon itself. It’s the young women who leave our program believing in themselves, discovering their voice, and knowing they have the power to lead and make a difference in the world.

Together, we’re building more than leaders. We’re building a legacy of women who inspire, young women who lead, and a community that continues to lift the next generation higher.

June was a month of meaningful milestones for our founder, Cloyette Harris-Stoute who was honored with three community awards recognizing her leadership, service, and commitment to empowering girls and young women.

While these recognitions are deeply appreciated, she believes they also belong to the incredible community that makes this work possible. Our volunteers, board members, mentors, donors, partners, families, scholarship recipients, and supporters each play an important role in this journey, and we are grateful for every one of you.

We are proud to recognize Angelina Edwards as the recipient of our 2026 Youth Leader of Inspiration Award. An aspiring physician and biomedical researcher, she has already distinguished herself through academic excellence, groundbreaking research, and a deep commitment to serving others.

This fall, Angelina will begin her journey at Howard University, where she will study biology as she pursues a career in medicine. We are honored to celebrate this remarkable young leader and look forward to all she will accomplish. 💜
