Fostering Dialogue, Collaboration and Encouraging Civic Engagement

In 2016, a small group of Southeast Queens residents gathered to discuss efforts to have greater impact in a community that we love. We could see change on the horizon. Each, having experience in an area of specialization that included education, housing, youth development-- all critical to community development, yet more importantly, all having an awareness of social justice with a desire to “want for others that we want for ourselves.” Out of a few meetings the South East Queens Muslim Collective was created. We continue to be eager to support community initiatives that inform, engage, energize and actualize efforts that can improve the condition of those we seek to assist. We know that Allah (God) will not change the condition of a people, until they change what is within them. We are change agents working with commitment to strengthen ties and engage in mutual efforts to please Allah (God) and be of service to our community. We hope you will join us in these endeavors.
