✨ First Year in Review: Friends of Pine Forest Elementary ✨

Not even a year ago, we set out with a simple goal: to support Pine Forest Elementary in meaningful ways and help this incredible arts magnet school thrive. What a wild ride it’s been! 💙

In just our first school year together, we’ve already begun making an impact:
📚 Supporting improvements in the media center
🛝 Investing in a better kindergarten playground
🎭 Championing the arts programs that make Pine Forest so special
🤝 Building a stronger community around our students, teachers, and school

And this is only the beginning. 👀✨ Year Two already has some exciting things on the horizon, and we can’t wait to keep growing, dreaming, and investing in Pine Forest together.

To every family, teacher, volunteer, sponsor, and supporter who believed in this mission: thank you for helping make the beginning a success. These photos tell part of the story— but the best is still ahead. 💫

Look at these cuties in their Nemo shirts! If you forgot to order your Finding Nemo Jr cast shirt before the show or you just loved it so much you have to have another one, good news! Orders are back open!
You can order directly from Big Frog and either pick up your order from their store (just down in Mandarin on San Jose) or have them ship it to you! Don't miss out on grabbing your shirt! Thanks for letting us be a part of the fun! 🫶🪼🐠✨ (I know it says we will hand them out at school, but you have to pick them up or have them delivered! There’s not enough school left!)

A few more things came together at the Kindergarten Playground this week! A shade sail was raised to keep the whole place a bit cooler 😎 We repainted the picnic tables where our kiddos have their snacks every day (and moved them into the nice cool shade) 🫟 And if you’re trying to find something fun to do with your older artists this summer, painting food rocks is a BLAST! And they are way more durable than the plastic play food on the playground right now! (We covered them with mod podge and used paint pens!)

We had a great time adding some ✨magic✨ to the kindergarten playground this week! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to lend a hand and for those who donated toward the cause!

The playhouse is painted and waterproofed! There is a little less dirt patch with a bit of turf! There is some magic among the trees! We added a new table and stools for games! There’s a new hopscotch pattern on the sidewalk! The trees have been trimmed and liberated from the Spanish moss! New storage has been added for toys! The kitchens have been washed! There are no more X’s on the walls! The trellis has been painted and Mrs Ledeaux brought an amazing climbing jasmine to make its way up the side! 😍

We aren’t done yet! We are hoping to find a more permanent solution to those dirt triangles in the middle of the playground 🫣, we’re hanging a shade sail next week 😎, and we will continue to add whimsy and sparkle as we can! 🍄🌻

We didn’t have as many hands as we would have liked this afternoon but we still got a LOT done! We can’t wait for you to see the “after” video! Come out Friday afternoon and help us put some finishing touches on what is becoming a magical place for our kindergarteners!

You have about 20 hours left to order your Finding Nemo Jr. shirt! All orders need to be in by 5pm TOMORROW, Wednesday May 13! We will pick them up over the weekend and we will hand them out to folks who ordered them on Monday at school!

Please note: We are NOT purchasing extra t-shirts, so if you or your student would like one, this is your chance to get it before the opening of the show!

We are just one month away from the Kindergarten Readiness Screening and Registration Event at Pine Forest! Over the past few years, more and more families have joined us, and last summer an amazing 83% participated! We’re excited to make this year even bigger!

During your visit, your child will have the chance to meet some of our teachers and staff, while our team gets to know your child in a fun and relaxed way. This helps our teachers better understand each student and start the school year ready to support their learning from day one!

Families will also have time to connect with our office staff to complete registration and meet other new Kindergarten families—making it a great opportunity to start building friendships and feel part of our school community. Be sure to RSVP so we know that you're coming!
