Do any of you have any angel trumpet’s that survived the freeze? The Men’s Garden Club received an email from Vickie Vriesenga who lost all 15 of her angel trumpet plants and she is desperate for cuttings to replace them. Some of you may remember Vickie and her son Patrick who worked at the Jacksonville Agricultural Fair Horticultural Show for years, perhaps decades. If you can help Vickie replace some of her treasured plants, please contact her directly at [email protected] or 904-485-3700. Thank you for anything you can do to help her.

Members of the MGCJ had a productive workday in the Riverside Park Camellia Garden that the Club created in 1968. Many of the camellias have been lost or are in decline over recent years due to loss of tree canopy and other environmental changes. Nevertheless, the club is working to help the remaining plants to hang on.

Many of the plants are in flower now and the later flowering cultivars have lots of blooms. So, get over to Riverside Park and visit the garden if you have an opportunity. The camellia garden is located in the northeast corner of the park bordered by Park Street, I-95 and the dog park.
