MY House is an organization founded in 2011 in response to the visible and urgent need for youth homelessness services in the Mat-Su Valley by providing immediate shelter alongside long-term, wraparound support for young people ages 14–25. Through crisis beds, transitional housing, and specialized housing for survivors of violence or trafficking, the organization ensures youth have a safe place to stay while also addressing the root causes of instability. At the same time, the organization delivers essential services, helping youth move from survival to independence. MY House’s model has served hundreds of young people annually and aims to help vulnerable youth become self-supporting members of their communities.

Gretta Carr is an Appalachian artist and community leader who helped found East Tennessee Artscapes in 2016, a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing deep-rooted challenges of rural poverty, addiction, and social division through the transformative power of the arts. Bringing lived experiences to her work, she developed programs at Artscapes that respond to community needs, including a collaboration with a court diversion program for nonviolent drug offenders, offering 8 months of classes in dance, visual arts, and poetry. Carr’s work is dedicated to creating spaces that empower participants, foster belonging, and introduce new pathways for personal and community growth.

Britini Cuington is an Air Force veteran and the Texas Lead Organizer at Common Defense, a national, member-led organization of veterans organizing for accountability and justice. In 2025, she led Black and Latino veterans to Ciudad Juárez to meet with deported U.S. veterans–bringing national attention to a largely invisible issue and ensuring those directly impacted were centered and heard. Cuington continues to train and support veterans as organizers, fostering a strong, values-driven community that advances justice and civic engagement.

Pastor Dianne Garcia leads Iglesia Cristiana Roca de Refugio in San Antonio, Texas, where her ministry is deeply rooted in serving immigrant and asylum-seeking communities. Through her leadership at Nuevos Vecinos, a nonprofit organization providing emergency assistance to immigrants, Pastor Garcia has built a faith-based response combining hospitality, relief, and logistical support. In February 2025, she helped organize and complete a 90-mile pilgrimage from the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley to San Antonio calling for the release of imprisoned families and children. By bridging her pastoral role with on-the-ground organizing, Pastor Garcia has created a sustained, community-centered model of accompaniment that continues to support families arriving in San Antonio.

Founded in 2023, the organization restores river corridors, storm-drain systems, highways, and other critical public spaces where trash accumulates before reaching local waterways. The Potomac River Clinic (PRC) has served individuals with hearing loss in the Washington, DC region for over 25 years. In 2023, PRC launched the Community Outreach Fund to provide free diagnostic Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing for infants. This initiative reflected the PRC’s broader mission to ensure equitable access to care, particularly for underserved families facing barriers such as cost, transportation, and language. Through its sustained commitment to both direct services and system-level solutions, PRC continues to model how a small, community-based organization can drive meaningful change in public health and improve the lives of children with hearing loss.
