As I work on this Sundays sermon Trained By Grace, three things stand out greatly to me.

1. Without God's Grace man is doomed

2. Because of God's Grace man can change.

3. Grace Received should also be Grace Given.

Titus 1:15-16 NASB
[15] To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
[16] They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.

Let this not be said of those who are professing the name of Jesus. Let our lip service line up with our walk.

I love the story of Priscilla and Aquila in Acts 18:24-28. Here was a man named Apollos who was versed in Gods words but at the time misquoted or misspoke about the events of Jesus Christ. This couple Aquila & Priscilla pulled him aside and guided him in the right direction.

The two things that stuck out to me in this story were this.

1. The teacher remained teachable. He took what they said and made a course correction on His teaching. This is so important. Because Pastors and Teachers are human beings also. At times they may say a scripture wrong or accidently read the wrong text. But being flawed individuals we should always be ready to take the criticism or correction and use it for our advantage . Not getting upset, angry or belligerent, but with a humble spirit like the teacher spoken of in the text and moving forward and growing from it. A teacher who isn't teachable shouldn't be someone who is teaching others.

2. The couple who corrected the teacher, did it because they were looking out for His soul. They didn't abandon him and leave him alone to his mistakes, they didn't gossip around town about his flaws nor did they berate him about his teachings. They in love pulled him aside and spoke with him one on one as we in Christ are instructed to do. Now-a-days a pastor messes up and we want to put him on blast, or walk away from the ministry instead of covering him in prayer and showing him in Love the error they made. This couple gave the example of how true friends and fellow followers in Christ should help one a other. We have enough people tearing down pastors and ministers in the world. But it hurts more when it comes from within.

So the moral of the story is give your pastors, ministers and teachers some grace and cover them in prayer. They carry a lot for the gospel and are not always going to get everything right. It is much easier to minister to many when we are all rowing the boat of ministry together and not rocking it separately. The same grace we receive from God is also to be given. Ministers are called, but only Jesus is perfect. And ministers, listen to those who care for you. Remain teachable so you may teach others.

Proverbs 26:11.

Never return to the filth God took you out of. Because God will allow you to return from it. But the enemy may kill you before you get the chance to. Don't take my word for it, read the story of Sampson. He kept going back until it destroyed Him.

[15] Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler;
[16] but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.
[17] For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
[18] And if it is with difficulty that the righteous is saved, what will become of the godless man and the sinner?
