🔵 Military Appreciation Month Spotlight: Brother Winford Morris 🔵

Today, the Eta Theta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. proudly honors Brother Winford Morris, a devoted Sigma Man and distinguished veteran who Retired from the United States Marine Corps.

Brother Morris served our nation with excellence for 27 years, culminating his career at the esteemed rank of Sergeant Major (E‑9). As an 8999 Command Senior Enlisted Leader, he stood at the forefront of Marine Corps leadership — guiding Marines, shaping mission readiness, and upholding the uncompromising standards of the Corps.

He entered our wondrous band in Spring 2023 through the Eta Theta Sigma Chapter in Jacksonville, NC. From the moment he crossed, Brother Morris brought with him the discipline, integrity, and mission‑focused mindset that defined his Marine Corps career — qualities that continue to elevate our Brotherhood.

Brother Morris currently serves as the Chapters Director of Military Affairs, where his leadership, strategic insight, and unwavering commitment to service strengthens Eta Theta Sigma. His presence, mentorship, and example embody what it means to be both a Marine and a Sigma Man.

Brother Morris, we salute your steadfast service to our country and your continued devotion to Culture for Service and Service for Humanity.

🔵 Military Appreciation Month Spotlight: Brother Straussi Mumford 🔵

Today, the Eta Theta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. proudly honors Brother Straussi Mumford, a devoted Sigma Man and distinguished Retiree of the United States Navy.

Brother Mumford served our nation with honor from 1989 to 2013, rising to the respected rank of Chief Hospital Corpsman. Across nearly 25 years of service, he exemplified the highest standards of leadership, discipline, and unwavering commitment to duty.

He entered our wondrous band in Spring 2011 through the Eta Theta Sigma Chapter in Jacksonville, NC. From the moment he crossed, he brought with him the same service‑driven spirit, integrity, and excellence that defined his naval career — qualities that continue to strengthen our Brotherhood.

Brother Mumford is the Immediate Past President of our Chapter and has faithfully served in numerous leadership roles at every level of this Fraternity. His guidance, mentorship, and dedication have left a lasting imprint on Eta Theta Sigma and the greater Sigma Brotherhood.

🔵 Military Appreciation Month Spotlight: Brother Caine Collins 🔵

Today, the Eta Theta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. proudly recognizes Brother Caine Collins, a devoted Sigma Man and Active Duty Sailor in the United States Navy.

Brother Collins has honorably served our nation since 2014, rising to the rank of Hospital Corpsman First Class. He currently serves as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman with the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit, providing critical medical care, readiness and support to Marines and Sailors.

He has recently returned home from deployment and we are glad to have him back!

He entered our wondrous band in Fall 2024 through the Eta Theta Sigma Chapter in Jacksonville, NC, bringing with him the discipline, leadership, and service‑driven spirit that defines both a Sailor and a Sigma Man.

Brother Collins, we salute your unwavering commitment to our country and your continued dedication to Culture for Service and Service for Humanity.

Brother Harris served our nation with distinction as a U.S. Air Force from 2001–2013, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant, specializing as a Client Systems Technician—a role essential to keeping mission‑critical communication and technology systems operating at the highest level.

He entered our wondrous band in Spring 2021 through the Iota Gamma Sigma Chapter in Germany, bringing his global perspective, discipline, and commitment to service into Sigma.

Today, Brother Harris continues to lead with purpose as our Chapter 2nd Vice President and the State Director of Technology, ensuring our brotherhood remains connected, innovative, and forward‑moving.

Our chapter is blessed with Brothers who have worn and continue to wear the uniform of our great nation with honor, courage, and unwavering commitment. Their service reflects the very essence of our principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service.

Throughout this month, we will be highlighting the Sigma Men across our chapter who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Their stories, sacrifices, and dedication deserve to be recognized, uplifted, and celebrated.

To every person who chose to serve our country past and present — we salute you!
