Hey there all my friends, as you know I work for 5 5 STAR Veterans Center and we are having our 2nd Annual Halloween Extravaganza on October 23, 2026, from 6-8pm at our facility located 40 Acme Street. There will be lots of fun, candy and so much more. The reason for my post today is in hopes to possibly find a face painter/clown to donate 1 to 2 hours of their time. We are a nonprofit and are trying to bring fun to the community in our area. The children in our area/community do not have a lot of options of places to trick or treat. We hope in giving them a safe and secure place to have lots of fun, win prizes and so much more. If you are a face painter and would love to give back to your community, please get in touch with me. My email is: [email protected] or you can message me here. See less

Huge thank you to Davidson Cares/Davidson Reality for their incredible $10,000 donation to Five Star Veterans Center, raised during the 11th Annual Davidson Cares Clay Day!

This generous contribution directly supports our mission to provide safe housing, mental health services, and essential resources for displaced veterans in Northeast Florida.

We are deeply grateful for the continuous support from Davidson Cares and everyone who came out to shoot for a cause today. Together, we are helping our nation's heroes successfully transition back into civilian life. 🇺🇸❤️

The 11th Annual Jim Davidson's Clay Day is taking place today, Thursday, October 15, 2026, bringing participants together for a premier sport shooting fundraiser. Organized by Davidson Cares—the philanthropic arm of Davidson Realty—the popular event is hosted at Jacksonville Clay Target Sports in Jacksonville, Florida.

---Shooting for a Cause---
The main goal of Clay Day is giving back, aiming to beat the $130,000 raised during the 2025 event. One hundred percent of the proceeds and raffle earnings directly fund vital youth-based, educational, and family support programs across Northeast Florida. This year's event benefits seven local nonprofit organizations:
• St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS)
• Investing in Kids! (INK!)
• Builders Care
• Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center
• Five Star Veterans Center
• Homes for HOPE
• Mercy Support
Five STAR Veterans Center sends our sincere "Thank you for being chosen as a recipient."

$25 a month keeps the door open.

Here’s the case for the Five Star Patrol in one paragraph:

Our housing has 35 rooms — 20 under the VA’s Grant & Per Diem program and 15 under our Passport to Independence program — and we keep about 20 filled on an average night. Housing a veteran costs the Center roughly $200 a night, all in. VA per-diem covers $85 and Passport residents pay toward their own stay, but that still leaves about $115 a night per veteran that donations have to provide. Grants show up on their own timeline. Events are seasonal. Monthly giving is the one thing we can count on regardless of what’s happening in the grant cycle or the calendar.

If 100 people give $25 a month, that’s $2,500 a month — $30,000 a year — that we don’t have to scramble for.

On November 1st, COME STAND WATCH WITH US! Join here: https://www.5starveteranscenter.org/patrol

Or if $25 is too much, $10 works. If $25 is too little, thank you. The number is less important than the steady-ness.

Very Respectfully,
Chief Executive Officer, Five STAR Veterans Center
John Bear
CDR, USN (Ret.)
