Today we pause.

Memorial Day is not just the start of summer. It is a day to remember the men and women who gave everything so that we could have everything. Their sacrifice is the foundation this country stands on.

At the Veterans Museum, we carry their stories forward every single day. Because the best way to honor the fallen is to make sure they are never forgotten.

Take a moment today to remember. 🎖️🇺🇸

Visit vetsmuseum.org to hear the stories of those who served.

Big news from the Veterans Museum family! We have a new home.

We are thrilled to announce that the Veterans Museum team has officially moved into our new office space at in Jacksonville. A new space means new energy, new capacity, and an even greater ability to serve the veterans and families who trust us with their stories.

Jacksonville has always been at the heart of what we do, and we are proud to continue growing right here in this community. The mission stays the same: preserving veteran legacies, one story at a time

Here is to the next chapter.

May is National Military Appreciation Month and there's a reason it exists.
In 1999, Senator John McCain introduced a resolution dedicating the entire month of May to honoring everyone who has served in uniform. The Senate passed it unanimously. Because one day was never enough.

At the Veterans Museum, we believe appreciation looks like action. It looks like listening to a veteran's story, visiting a kiosk, and making sure their legacy is never forgotten.

This May, we invite you to do just that. Visit vetsmuseum.org to explore veteran stories, find a kiosk near you, and learn how you can support our mission. 🎖️

Behind every person who served, there was someone at home holding everything together.

Military spouses carried the weight of worry quietly and with grace, all while their partner was miles away serving this country. Their sacrifice is just as real, and their story deserves to be told too.

This Military Spouse Appreciation Day, we see you. We honor you. 🎖️

During his deployments, Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Lawrence Michalove wrote letters home filled with adventure stories where his children were the heroes. Years later, those letters became “The Four Little Children.” But he’s quick to remind us who carried the real weight. His wife Sybil raised four children alone while worrying whether her husband was coming home — and did it with grace.

This April, Month of the Military Child, we honor the whole family. Watch more of Lt. Col. Michalove’s interview at vetsmuseum.org. 📖🎖️ Or buy his book “The Four Little Children” on Amazon to support our veterans.

Gold Star Spouses carried a weight most of us will never fully understand. They loved someone who gave everything — and they have spent their lives honoring that sacrifice with quiet strength and grace.

At the Veterans Museum, we believe their stories deserve to be preserved too. Because behind every veteran's legacy is a family who lived it alongside them.
Today, on Gold Star Spouses Day, we see you. We honor you. 🌟

Vietnam War Veterans Day recognizes the men and women who served during one of the most complex periods in our nation’s history. Their courage, sacrifice, and resilience continue to shape how we understand service and legacy. We are proud to maintain a strong and growing library of Vietnam War veteran stories on our website, preserving their voices and ensuring their experiences are never forgotten.

Medal of Honor Day recognizes the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of those who have gone above and beyond in service to our country. In this interview, we sit down with legendary Marine Major (Ret.) James Capers Jr., who was nominated for the Medal of Honor, to reflect on his life, family, and military service. His story is one of bravery, resilience, and leadership, and we are honored to help preserve it as part of the Library of Congress Veterans History Project.
