Neighborhood Safety Awareness
Sharing on behalf of a neighbor in hopes that the parents of these children may recognize them and have a conversation with them.
Yesterday, August 19 at approximately 5:58 PM, two young kids approached a home in our neighborhood, and one of them kicked the front door in what appeared to be the social media “door-kicking” prank/trend.
While it may have been intended as a joke, this type of behavior can be extremely dangerous. A homeowner hearing someone forcefully kicking their door may reasonably believe that someone is attempting to break into the home and react accordingly.
There were four children inside the home, including a 3-week-old infant, which made the situation even more concerning.
This is being shared not to shame anyone, but because we would hate to see a child seriously injured over something they believed was harmless fun. If you recognize these children, please speak with them about the seriousness and potential consequences of this type of prank.
We are also wondering if any other neighbors experienced something similar yesterday evening.
