Sometimes a Picture Tells a Story, but When You Know the Rest of the Story, You See God at Work!
At first glance, this may look like a few young ladies sitting together, talking and sharing a moment. But what you cannot see in this picture is the incredible way God was working in their hearts.
Earlier, the pastor of one of our partner churches here in León, shared something heartbreaking with us. Several of the young people in his church had been struggling with depression, emotional pain, and even self-harm.
He asked if our team could come early, before the church service, and spend some time with these students. He simply asked us to share whatever God had placed on our hearts.
So we arrived early with part of our Mars Hill mission team, not knowing exactly what God had planned.
Two of our team members courageously opened their hearts and shared their personal journeys, including some of the struggles and difficult seasons they had walked through. They spoke honestly about their challenges and the hope they have found in Jesus Christ.
And then we watched God do something beautiful.
What you see in this picture is not simply young ladies having a conversation.
You are seeing two of our students sharing the Gospel and leading other young people to Jesus Christ!
You are seeing students sitting with students, listening to their struggles, sharing their lives, opening their hearts, and praying together.
You are seeing young believers reminding others that they are loved, that their lives matter, that they are fearfully and wonderfully made, and that there is hope in our risen Savior!
This is discipleship. This is missions. This is the church being the church.
Sometimes we think missions is about large events, conferences, or standing in front of crowds. But sometimes the most powerful moments happen when a few young people sit together, share their stories, and point one another to Jesus.
I am so thankful for Mars Hill and their commitment to sending out a team of BOLD believers who are not afraid to share their faith, love people where they are, and be the hands and feet of Jesus.
And above all, thank You, Lord, for loving us enough to send Your Son to die for our sins and rise again so that we can have eternal life through Him.
Please continue praying for these young people. Their struggles are real, and they need continued love, encouragement, support, and discipleship.
Today was another reminder that we are not called simply to make crowds. We are called to make disciples!
God is moving and what a blessing it is to witness His work!
