Today, we celebrate not only your service to our country but also the love and dedication you show as fathers. Thank you for your unwavering strength and the lessons you impart to your families even though your service took you away so often. Wishing you a day filled with love, honor, and cherished moments with your loved ones!"

To all who are still serving and are away from your children on this special day, we thank you for your continued dedication.

American Legion Post 57 collects US Flags that are torn, tattered and worn all year long. If you have a US Flag that needs to be retired properly, bring it by the Post. If the Post is closed, hang it on the door or leave on one the benches out front.

Happy Flag Day to all, as the U.S. Flag turns 249 years old today.
The U.S. flag, adopted on June 14, 1777, by the Continental Congress, has evolved through 27 versions, with the 50-star design used since 1960. It features 13 stripes for the original colonies and stars representing the 50 states. Known for its red (valor), white (purity), and blue (justice) colors, its design was meant to represent a "new constellation". May she continue to fly tall and proud forever.

Tomorrow, Saturday June 13, American Legion Post 57 will conduct our annual US Flag retirement for US flags that are torn, tattered, ripped and faded. We have over 300 flags to retire. Please join us (public is welcome).

This morning I was happy to visit the Jacksonville Senior Center to witness a presentation in support of Flag Day put on by the Woman’s Army Corps Heritage Chapter 62. Their Honor Guard did a wonderful job securing the room, folding the flag with a narrative explaining the meaning of each fold to the 40+ visitors in attendance.
