The Jacksonville Council of the Navy League of the United States is a civilian, not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to supporting the men and women of our national Sea Services (Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine). The Navy League focuses particular attention on the Sea Services component of our great defense team ... the United States Navy ... Coast Guard ... Marine Corps ... and US-flagged Merchant Marine. Over the past several years, your Board of Directors has determined that service to others, and particularly to our young people, is a vital role for this organization. Our primary beneficiaries are the Naval ROTC Unit at Jacksonville University, and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Sea Cadet Squadron located at NAS Jacksonville. Navy" through an annual gift to the NROTC scholarship fund established in memory of the late Congresswoman Tillie Fowler. In addition, the council presents a sword each year to the outstanding midshipman of the JU NROTC battalion. The council's other primary beneficiary is the Franklin D. The squadron has 25 active cadets, ages 14 through 17. Most financial support for the FDR Squadron comes from our council.
