💜 SU***DE PREVENTION MONTH / KNOW THE FACTS

Sometimes the person struggling the most is the person you would never expect.

Here are a few facts worth knowing:

📊 In 2024, 48,824 people died by su***de in the United States.

🧠 An estimated 14.3 million adults seriously thought about su***de that same year.

💔 About 4.6 million adults made a su***de plan, and approximately 2.2 million attempted su***de.

🤝 Connection matters. Support from family, friends and community—and access to healthcare—can help protect people from suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

And one of the most important facts:

💜 Su***de is preventable.

You don’t have to have all the right words to check on somebody. Sometimes it starts with something as simple as:

“Hey, I noticed you haven’t seemed like yourself lately. Are you okay?”

Check on the strong friend.
Check on the quiet friend.
Check on the person who is always making everybody else laugh.
And don’t be afraid to check on yourself, too.

For someone experiencing homelessness, keeping up with medications and healthcare can become one more challenge on top of everything else they are facing.

💜 National Su***de Prevention Month 💜

Su***de does not always look like sadness. Sometimes it looks like a smile, showing up to work, helping everyone else, or saying, “I’m fine.”

That’s why we have to check on each other, especially the strong ones. Ask twice. Listen without judging. Let people know they don’t have to carry everything alone.

During National Su***de Prevention Month, Overflow Health Alliance wants you to know that whatever you are facing, your life still matters. The pain you feel today does not have to be the end of your story. There is still hope, help, healing, and purpose ahead of you.

Please stay. Give tomorrow a chance. This world is better with you in it.

Our community impact continues to improve. Our program continues to make significant strides towards empowering for a healthy community.

Take a look at our last months success review while we’re focusing on this months success as well…

This past month we were able to contribute more than $10,000 in support to our community in different sectors of our agency.

This was no grant funding or support from any outside agency.

That smile says it all! 😊

TJ has officially GRADUATED, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this amazing accomplishment with him!

If you know TJ, you know he brings joy wherever he goes. 🎶 He loves music, dancing, and smiling, and his happiness has a way of spreading to everyone around him.

TJ, today is YOUR day! You worked hard, reached an incredible milestone, and gave us another reason to smile right along with you.

🏡💜 TODAY, WE CELEBRATE JENNIFER AND HER DAUGHTER!

When Jennifer and her daughter first came to Overflow, they stayed in our shelter. Jennifer was determined to build a better future for her family, and she got to work.

She secured employment, moved into Overflow’s transitional housing, and continued taking steps toward independence. Today, Jennifer and her daughter have a home of their own!

Overflow was honored to provide housing, employment support, resources, and encouragement—but Jennifer did the work. Her strength, determination, and love for her daughter made this beautiful journey possible.

Jennifer, Overflow sees you, Overflow is proud of you, and today we recognize and celebrate your beautiful little family! 🎉💜

🏡💜 TODAY, WE CELEBRATE A FAMILY!

More than a year ago, Overflow Health Alliance met a mother and her four children, two with special needs, during one of the hardest seasons of their lives.

We were able to provide housing, but our support did not stop there. At Overflow, we believe people need more than a place to stay, they also deserve compassion, encouragement, resources, and someone willing to walk beside them as they rebuild.

Today, this incredible mother is providing for her family and continuing to move forward through her own strength, determination, and love for her children. She put in the hard work, overcame difficult circumstances, and never gave up.

To this amazing mother: We see you. We are proud of you. And today, Overflow celebrates you and your beautiful family! 🎉💜
