Trail Work Party This Sunday! 🌲🏍️

Anavrin Brooks is heading up a trail work party this Sunday, May 31 at 9:00 AM. Meet at the MRA building.

The plan is to get some trails dragged behind quads and send out crews on single track to cut back brush and branches to help keep our trails in great shape for everyone.

It’s supposed to be a bit cooler on Sunday, making it a perfect day to be out on the mountain! 🌤️

Come put some sweat equity back into YOUR mountain and help keep our trail system looking awesome. Many hands make light work! 💪

Hope to see you all there!!

🔥 Riding & Camping – Fire Restrictions 🔥

There has been some confusion regarding John’s Peak OHV being private property and whether MRA follows Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) fire restrictions.

We want to clarify that while John’s Peak OHV is private property owned and managed by the Motorcycle Riders Association (MRA), our fire protection falls under ODF and we are REQUIRED to follow all ODF fire regulations and restrictions.

MRA absolutely follows and enforces ODF fire safety rules to help protect the mountain, surrounding forestland, neighboring properties, and our riding community.

🏍️ RIDING DURING FIRE SEASON

During fire season, all riders are expected to comply with current ODF fire restrictions, including:
✔️ Approved spark arrestors
✔️ Required firefighting equipment
✔️ Staying on vegetation-free trails and approved riding areas

Please use common sense and make responsible decisions regarding fire danger conditions. Riders should always check current ODF Fire Danger Levels before visiting the property.

🔥 REQUIRED FIRE EQUIPMENT

Motor vehicles, motorcycles, and ATVs are only permitted on improved roads and trails free of flammable vegetation.

Required equipment while traveling:
• One shovel and one gallon of water
OR
• One shovel and one 2½-pound or larger fire extinguisher

Additional OHV Requirements:
• All motorcycles and ATVs must carry a 2½-pound or larger fire extinguisher during fire season
• Class I & III ATVs operating on designated trails must carry a 2½-pound fire extinguisher
• Class II ATVs must carry BOTH a shovel AND either water or a fire extinguisher
• Class IV ATVs must carry a fire extinguisher at all times

🏕️ CAMPING AT LILY PRAIRIE

Camping at Lily Prairie is for OHV users only. All OHVs must have:
✔️ Current OHV tags
✔️ Approved spark arrestors

Camping is first come, first serve. Camping is primitive with vault toilets available, but there is NO water on site.

We encourage campers to become MRA members so you stay informed about events, notices, closures, and projects happening on the mountain.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s OHV Patrol has been actively patrolling and checking compliance.

🔥 CAMPFIRES

Campfires are ONLY allowed in the metal fire pits when the ODF fire level is GREEN.

❌ Once fire level reaches MODERATE or above, NO campfires are allowed anywhere on MRA property.

Please remember:
• There is NO water available on site
• Completely extinguish your campfire before leaving

🚫 DO NOT burn pallets anywhere on the Peak!

Let’s all do our part to keep John’s Peak safe, open, and protected this fire season. 🌲🏍️

We will begin accepting donations the week prior to the sale. Unfortunately, we do not have the space to store items earlier than that.

⚠️ Logging Activity Notice – Please Ride Carefully ⚠️

Many of you have probably noticed the recent tree work on BLM property, along with the large new road being built at the end of Seven Trail below the Eric Thorn Memorial. Active logging operations are beginning today and will continue until the project is completed.

The logging company will be using John’s Peak Road through MRA property to access the BLM land. Signs have been posted throughout the area to help alert riders and visitors.

If you are riding during the week, please use extra caution. There will be heavy equipment operating and trees falling throughout portions of the BLM property. For your safety, please stay clear of all active logging areas and follow any posted signage or directions from workers onsite.

Please ride carefully, stay alert, and be aware of changing conditions on the mountain.

🔥 RIDING & CAMPING DURING FIRE SEASON 🔥
We get asked about this all the time, so here’s a quick reminder about riding, camping, and fire season rules on the mountain.

John’s Peak OHV is private property and is not directly governed by ODF regulations, however the MRA follows ODF fire season guidelines regarding:
✔️ Spark arrestors
✔️ Staying on vegetation-free trails and roads
✔️ Carrying proper firefighting equipment

The mountain is OPEN, but we ask everyone to use common sense and make smart decisions during fire season. Please always check current ODF Fire Levels before heading up.

🔥 FIRE SEASON REMINDERS 🔥
• Motor vehicles, motorcycles, and ATVs are only permitted on improved roads/trails free of flammable vegetation.
• Motorcycles and ATVs must carry a 2½ lb. or larger fire extinguisher.
• Class II ATVs must carry BOTH a shovel and extinguisher/water.
• Class IV ATVs must carry a fire extinguisher at all times.
• Make sure your OHVs have current OHV stickers and spark arrestors installed.

🚔 The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has been patrolling the mountain and checking for compliance.

🏕️ CAMPING AT LILY PRAIRIE 🏕️
• Primitive camping only
• First come, first serve
• Vault toilets available
• NO WATER available onsite

We strongly encourage campers to become MRA members so you stay informed about events, projects, closures, and notices affecting the mountain.

🔥 CAMPFIRES 🔥
Please check ODF fire restrictions before having a campfire. If campfires are allowed:
✔️ Never leave a fire unattended
✔️ Make absolutely sure your fire is DEAD OUT before leaving

❌ DO NOT burn pallets anywhere on the Peak

Let’s all work together to keep the mountain open, safe, and enjoyable for everyone!
